1957 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing
In April, RM Sotheby's will offer to auction this stunning red Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing for an estimate price of $1,000,000.
History of Mercedes-Benz 300 SL
Max Hoffman, the U.S. distributor for Mercedes-Benz, asked to Daimler-Benz in 1953 to put a customer version of the W194 Grand Prix race car into production. The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was designed by Friedrich Geiger and the two-seat coupé with distinctive gull-wing doors was introduced in 1954. This 1957 model was one of the last produced, with all the features, Becker Mexico radio, full leather uphostery.
This 1957 300 SL Gullwing is in exceptionally original condition, never restored and exposed many years (since 1968) in different museums. You can see all the patina in the Cream leather interior.
And one more reason, the result of the sell will be give to YMCA of Jackson (Michigan).
