1956 Lancia Aurelia Spider B24 Convertible
This sunday (March 18th), Bonhams will sell at auction this Lancia Aurelia Spider B24 Convertible for an estimate price of $300,000 with somes restoration to do.
History of Lancia Aurelia
Named after the Romand road between Rome and Pisa (Via Aurelia), the Lancia Aurelia was produced by Lancia from 1950 to 1958 in different versions 4 doors, 2 doors GT (B20), 2 doors spider convertible (B24). After WWII, Francesco de Virgilio designed a V6 engine, the first car ever to have a V6 engine (1,754 cc).
In 1955, the B24 Spider was launched, one master pieces by Pinin Farina, with only 240 units produced, at each auction the price are going north. RM Sotheby's sold a barn find 1955 Spider for more than $800,000. The same year, Gooding & Company sold a restored Spider for $1,815,000.
Capitalising on it, the model B24 convertible was launched in 1956 with always a coachwork by Pinin Farina and was a success with the production of 521 units. Powered with an 2,451cc V6 engine, the Aurelia B24 Spider can reach 170 kmh.
