1958 AC Ace Roadster
Next week, this 1958 AC Ace Roadster will be heading auction through Bonhmans with an estimate price of $150,000. I'm not so familiar with AC Cars, the British and independant automobile manufacturer, so it's a pleasure to discover the history of this car maker with you.
History AC Ace Roadster
The Weller Brothers founded in 1901 AC Cars in London (England) and theirs first car, 20hp touring car was presented at the Crystal Palace motor show in 1903. In 1911, the company became Auto Carriers with the new round logo... They produded also 4 trains in the 50's in England for the Southend Pier Railway.
AC Ace began with the engineer and racing car designer, John Tojeiro who designed in 1952 a sports-racer for Cliff Davis, one of the most successful sports car racers in the 1950s. AC Cars decided to buy the right to this design and the production of the Ace started in 1954. The Ace had great success with the victory in its class at the Le Mans Race in 1959. In 1958, only 21 were manufactured in total, and this example was one with the 2.0-litre AC engine (only 223 cars were delivered with this engine until the end of production in 1963).
Great restoration between 2007 and 2015 with the red leather interior...
