Co2 levels in the atmosphere are growing by the day. It takes a special kind of project to not only curb this problem but make the environment a better place while doing it. This company is Carbon Chain, it's built on a high-performance blockchain ledger with the mission to combat climate change. To make this happen the company needs a solid team behind it.

The team behind Carbon Chain needs to be equipped for the tough road ahead. And it is.

The Founder and CEO, Steve Ireton has held several managerial and leadership positions. Heading everything from insurance and marketing departments to board tables. For example, he was the managing director of CARE (short for - Clean Air Renewable Energy) a conservation brand based in South Africa that's based off of the Kyoto protocol, that not only plants trees to reduce carbon in the aerosphere but is also involved in creating sustainable projects especially within rural communities, for example clean-energy cooking stoves and water purification systems. Steve has been tribunalised by Lloyds of London twice.

Lloyds of London is a British based insurance market where members can purposely collaborate as syndicates to insure and spread risks of different individuals, businesses even organizations.

Deputy chairman of Carbon Chain, John Kilani has worked on development projects all over the globe and lectured at some of the top universities in Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa. He started out his career over twenty years ago, as a senior executive at the Chamber of Mines South Africa, while there he helped developed policies and strategies in different fields, like the environment, health and community development. He left Chamber of Mines in 1994 and went to take on the role of vice president of sustainable development at African Rainbow Minerals LTD, here too his main roles involved developing policies and strategies in the fields of environment, health, HIV/AIDS and others. Starting to see a pattern?

John then left this position in 2005 to become a lead environment engineer at Qatar petroleum - there he was charged with formulating and executing Qatar Petroleum's sustainable development blueprint that was meant to show QP was committed to the - Social License to Operate -.

In 2008, John relocated to Bonn Area, Germany to take on the position of Director at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), he oversaw the Sustainable Development Mechanisms (SDM) Programme which oversaw negotiations on the carbon market at the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement. John's expertise and knowledge in the field of - sustainable development - will prove extremely useful especially when it comes to GHG (carbon) emissions and preventing the depletion of natural resources. John holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Birmingham.

Sitting on the Chairlady position is Karin Ireton, a sustainable development expert. Karin has a master’s degree in International Political Economy from the University of Leeds and she too has quite a list of achievements. For instance, she was the head of sustainability management at the Standard Bank Group, a South African financial services group with over $142 Billion USD in assets, here she helped drive the sustainability strategy for the bank while embedding sustainability thinking into all aspects of the bank's activities. She has also worked as a Non-Executive Director at the National Business Initiative and Aureus Mining Inc. She has a deep passion for the environment, which shows. Karin is on the board of Endangered Wildlife Trust and is also a trustee. Karin's experience will prove key in terms of establishing key partnerships and agreements for the benefit of the Carbon Chain organization. The fact that she's worked with UNEPFI on issues related with climate change helps a lot too.

The person in charge of ensuring the business is running efficiently, Joost Van Lier, will need to wear many hats to hack the role of COO of Carbon Chain. Joost is currently the co-founder of Blue World Carbon a renewable energy development company. Joost also holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Stellenbosch University, one of the top research universities in South Africa.

Do note that i haven't mentioned the entire team on this read, that's merely to maintain its read worthiness and not to downplay any roles being played by the members. If you're interested in finding more about the team. Here's a link for you - TEAM
