1956 Maserati A6G/2000 Zagato
This summer (August 24 and 25), in Monterey (US), this 1956 Maserati A6G/2000 Berlinetta Zagato will heading to auction through RM Sotheby's. No price yet, but this model is estimated between $4,250,000 and $5,250,000.
History of the Maserati A6G/2000
The A6 were different series (GT, racing sports...) produced by Maserati from 1947 to 1956 and named with the first letter of the first name of one Maserati brothers, Alfieri Maserati and the "6" stands for the straight-six engine (his engine, inline-six, is a combustion engine with the cylinders mounted in a straight line).
The series A6G/2000 Berlinetta was presented in 1954 at the Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris with four body styles different :
- the coupé by Carrozzeria Allemano (21 examples),
- a coupé and a gran sport by Frua (7 and 12 examples),
- a competition car by Zagato (20 examples), Italian coachbuilding company from Milan.

This 1956 Maserati A6G/2000 Zagato Berlinetta was the demonstrator model for Mille Miglia in 1956 piloted by Luigi Taramazzo.
Technical specification
The A6G/2000 also known, A6G/54, has double overhead camshaft inline-six engine with three Weber DCO carburettors delivering 160 hp with a top speed 210 kmh.
Beautiful interior, it's exceptionally rare car remaining in very good condition...
