In the current market of telecommunications, many problems exist with the centralized companies running the entire market. Since the market is run by only a few companies they are able to collude and control the market, allowing them to charge outrageous prices, and continually raise the minimum monthly fees. Another raising concern comes from developing countries with low costs of living resulting in the inability to pay for these services, essentially pushing these countries out of the telecommunication market and making it more difficult to become modernized.
On the other side of the spectrum - is fraud. Phone carriers are often social engineered and exploited through their calling support. These exploits are harmful and can cause people to lose phone verifications, calling plans, and phone activations. This fraud occurs when someone calls the phone carrier impersonating the user who they would like to exploit and convince the support agents to reset passwords and phones. With the limited competition in the market, phone carriers have no reason to really push innovation and hold cheaper prices. This has caused the market to be relatively the same for the last decade with the large centralized players monopolizing the market. .

CT&R believes that many solutions will exist for the industry with the introduction of the blockchain and decentralized protocols such as increased fraud prevention, identity management, and scalable Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure. Fraud detection would be increased with blockchain technology because it would force the user to provide actual identity validation information to make any changes to the user's account. Any accounts and devices owned by that user will be linked to this validation making it impossible to fake. A variety of management implementations will be applied to every device including a master key to easily access multiple accounts requiring separate passwords. This master key will be easily verifiable and extremely accurate since it will be verified on a decentralized distributed ledger which will hold all of the information.
