Is The War On Drugs A Dangerous Lie? - An Informal Steemit Survey!

in #cannabis7 years ago (edited)

I have my own definite opinions on this so called "war on drugs" which has been very profitable for some but lead to subjugation and misery of untold millions!

I will shortly be writing a much longer post more along my usual style dealing with the history, characters and repercussions on this disastrous "war" but as I am doing that I would like to hear from the Steemit community.

Twice before have I canvassed the Steemian community for their opinions on the contentious subject 9/11 and vaccinations. Both times the responses were enlightening. As usual I will be pulling the best comments for the follow up post and making some graphs.

I realise what I am about to do will prejudice some of the responses and I apologise in advance for that but I want to lay a few issues on the table which I will go into depth in my second post.

The War On Drugs

Whatever you believe about the war on drugs two things are indisputable. The war on drugs has created profits without measure for government agencies, law enforcement, the military, the media, the producers and the biggest profiteers the world wide network of smuggling bosses.

Much has been come to the public light to show that the biggest bosses of the drug business are our military but I will deal with this in the forthcoming post.

A War On Plants & Conciousnes?

In 1971 President Richard Nixon firs declared war on drugs but this was not really Nixon speaking, rather the puppet masters who were pulling his strings. Nixon was a foul man and totally deserves his own Named & Shamed post! This opened the floodgates for what is indisputably billions of dollars and massive bureaucratic empire building. More of this coming.

The biggest group of plant users to suffer under this war on drugs were the cannabis users who are by far the biggest market! The majority of these poor souls were people of colour in the US.

Fundamentally the war on drugs started as a war on plants. It is also a war on our minds and consciousness. You can abuse yourself with certain plants but not others. This is ludicrous!

Keeping Drugs Illegal Brings More Addicts & Profits

Recent studies and examples have shown that keeping drugs illegal leads to greater problems but increased profits. The profits rise up through the system and include our governments, private agencies, private prisons, the legal profession, the media and all the other corporate scum who have no respect for hum life but allow themselves to be prostituted for blackmail or bribes.

My own personal experiences around people who suffer addiction have been many and varied. They have included the wealthy and the tragically poor. This is a problem which touches all of our youth and needs to be addressed before we criminalise our youth.

Still it's normally only the poor who suffer suffer the full brutality of these laws... the rich are always dealt with more leniently!

I am so grateful that I do not have to suffer these terrible addictions and feel a lot of compassion for those who do! I have lost many friends and nearly lost many others 😢

The UN & Portugal

Although I have a lot to say about the UN and it will have an interesting Named & Shamed post of its own soon it recently published an interesting report with the WHO that called for drugs to be decriminalised. 1

Portugal took its own stance and decriminalised all drugs over 10 years ago 2. Drug abuse is estimated to be down by half.

Is The War On Drugs A Failure?

In my opinion it has been a terrible failure littered with death, prison, ruined lives and huge profits for the criminal elite of our plant who have always profited from drugs. I'm going to go into this much more in my next post but lets hear what you Steemians have to say on this!

In my research on this survey I came across a great post on this very subject on Steemit by @nicholas83. Go Steemit!

I applaud this because I think it's time to discuss this subject more often because it is indicative of the wider control mechanisms our communities are conned into to our detriment and the profit of the elite.

Another excellent Steemian to follow for excellent information on this subject is @dannyshein.

I believe we need mass movement to change this situation for the betterment of all people.

The best comments will be used and credited in my longer post!

The war on drugs is a failure because it's a psy-op!
The politicians are patsy's doing the bidding of their controllers. The real controllers of our paradigm (banking entities and elite families) are in a battle to control drug production and distribution for their own nefarious ends. The CIA have been huge drug runners since the Vietnam war and are currently still at it all over the world under the umbrella of the Bush crime family and other scumbags. Why are the US still in Afghanistan? Why did they go in the first place? The pretext for war was bullshit.

The British have been at it for centuries too. We decimated China's trade when they tried to stop British Government drug trade.

The big banks get slapped on the wrist for drug money laundering and cartel leaders are taken out to this day so their businesses can be controlled and profited from.
It's a farce!

I completely agree with you mate and will be going into this in depth in my forthcoming post. I will be happy to use your comment as a reference point! Thanks for reading and taking the time to make such a valid and informative comment! UPvoted with pleasure! 😉

The so called war on drugs is so evil I can’t think of words to express it. It’s the law enforcement agents that need to be locked up. I want to make a film, similar to the Film carnage which is set in 50 years time by which time everyone will know that the real criminals are the enforcers. All the non violent people will be released from prison and there will be a truth and reconciliation set up where all the lawyers Police judges etc will have to face the people they terrorised and face the music. I also have had an idea to start to create a viral experiment to publicise jury nullification outside courts all over the country to get the thousands of people who are in prison for victimless crimes out and to start to nullify these sick twisted laws.
They are pushing the hell out of alcohol, sugar and caffeine and then there are the pharma drugs. These fuckers don’t give a shit about our well being.

I love, love, love your style Danny! I love what you do and will do anything I can think of to help promote your activism. With pleasure I do this because I believe in your views and I am inspired by your actions! 😉

Who rocks? You do mate!

UPvoted with pleasure! 😃

Update:
@samstonehill - love you too buddy! ;-)

Danny that would be an amazing film to make. It would sure open some eyes!

The " war on drugs" is nothing more than a war on human beings which was never designed to help anyone, but to increase control.

I completely agree mate and will be addressing the various pieces of the puzzle in my forthcoming post. Thanks for commenting! I will quote you in the next post if you don't mind! UPvoted!

Sure thing. Looking forward to it!

Thanks! I will notify you if you wish! Sent you a PM in thanks too! UPvoted! ;-)

Anyone who supports the drug war is crazy. All that money should be put into schools and roads and hospitals. It's a waste of tax dollars to lock up non violent drug offenders. Most illegal drugs are less dangerous and addictive than alcohol or tobacco. Drug prohibition makes no sense.

It's not for me that I care, I have never been searched in my life. But I'm white and in my 40s and live in a nice neighborhood. Everyone knows the drug war is enforced along racial and economic lines.

I totally agree mate! I might include your comment in my forthcoming post! UPvoted and follwoed! =)

"The war on drugs has created profits without measure for government agencies, law enforcement, the military, the media, the producers and the biggest profiteers the world wide of smuggling bosses." - this is right; However, there's no denying that drugs are the things that destroy life. I think the problem is not drugs being illegal, it is the corrupted dishonest people who sits on the top and using the law for their personal benefits. I support the illegalization of drugs, but the law has to be enforced properly.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment I really appreciate it! I have travelled all over the world and worked with those who suffer from addiction on 3 continents. I have a different view to yours now after all I have seen. Still I love the fact that we share different opinions and can do that here in a free, open and loving way on Steemit! I will gladly address your comment in my coming post about my beliefs and why I hold them. Thank you again! UPvoted and followed with pleasure! 😃

that is so nice of you :) thank you very much

You are most welcome! It's very nice of you too! This is what I love about Steemit! Yay! UPvoted again mate! 😉

I am just speechless :)

No worries buddy! Warm regards from Cambodia! 😃

same from Bangladesh :) :)

Why do you support laws about what you can do with your own body? I do not get that.

well, for starters, let me tell you a story in very short: My best friend in high school got addicted firstly to marijuana, which lead him to heroin and Yaba. His father died when he was only 14, and he was the only son with a younger sister and mother. we did everything to get him out of the addiction and he said the same thing "i'll do whatever i want with myself" - and now he has become a good for nothing, and his family is suffering so much because of he did what he wanted to with himself. You see, your body is not only yours, it belong to your loved ones as well. but there are people who don't understand that simple fact, they destroy themselves along with their loved ones in the process. and if someone doesn't understand the value of his life, it's the duty of the others to make him understand. Moreover, I live in a third world country, and i can see with my own eyes what it's doing to our younger generation. It destroys society and generation - and thus, i am for the law against drugs.

  • ps: If it was harsh, i apologize for my tone. I got emotional writing that paragraph. it's just that I've lost a lot to drug addiction and i know what pain can it cause.

Oh honey, I know it is hard. I have lost loved ones to addiction also. Laws did not stop it, did it? I wish you the best, but I hope you will watch this little video, and maybe reconsider your belief that laws are the answer to this. I watched my father die of a heart attack, probably due to his glaucoma drops. His entire life, the Federal government dispensed marijuana to a handful of glaucoma patients, they KNOW it is a better therapy, yet my father had access ONLY to the beta blocker eye drops that helped kill him. All the addict deaths in the world are not an excuse to deny people access to medicine. This is just over 8 minutes, I consider it one of the best videos ever made, I hope you will watch with open heart and mind!

Excellent response! I will reference this with pleasure in my forthcoming post! UPvoted! =)

i get your point my friend. and i'm sorry for your loss - i really do - it breaks my heart. I am also against the idea that anyone can own us - all i'm saying is everything has its negative and positive use. as i have mentioned in the first comment, it's not the law that's guilty, it's the corrupt authority who uses the law for their own benefit. they use their positions and power to deprive us of what we deserve. Law doesn't prevent us from getting what we deserve, it's the corrupted evil jerks who think their position gives them the right over people's lives.

You're wrong about laws. Government is nothing more than gang warfare and protection rackets. It's not a mistake that corrupt, evil people gain power in governments. It's the purpose of government to enable the shield of noble rhetoric to conceal tyranny and enslavement.

Every law you agree with, you can follow, because it's what you want to do. No one needs to force you to obey it with guns. Laws that are evil, or twisted by corruption, are crimes against humanity.

In both cases, the law isn't necessary, and in most cases, it's horribly harmful - particularly to your family.

You point out that a family member became an addict, and that harmed your family. You should note that drugs are illegal, and yet available, and a constant barrage of lies about them is trumpeted by authorities. This causes people who recognize the lies to rebel against them, and to seek the actual truth - which they can only discover by using drugs.

The laws against them, coupled with the corrupt enforcement - by the very forces profiting from the black markets in drugs - and propaganda of lies, drive people into addiction.

Your family was harmed BY the laws against drugs, not by the drugs.

I'm sorry your family has been victimized by criminal tyrants and profiteers. In a free society you'd have a better chance at avoiding that kind of harm.

Thanks!

Marijuana isn't addictive you can't be addicted to it.

my real-life experience says otherwise :)

My real life experience proves it is not. I have used cannabis most of my life, on and off.

I rarely use it now, and suffer no withdrawals when I do not. I never have suffered withdrawal, even when I stopped using it daily cold turkey.

I have been addicted to other drugs, and know very well what withdrawal is. Benzodiazepines are terribly addictive, and the withdrawal is life threatening.

You do NOT know the difference between an addict and someone who just doesn't want to obey you when you tell them to stop using.

I do.

Cannabis is not addictive, and even the US DEA has confirmed in legal rulings that there is no known harmful dose, speculating that a harmful dose would crush the user to death under the weight of most of a ton of flowers.

Cannabis is the very oldest proved agricultural crop, a stash of seeds of cannabis was found and dated to 12,000 years ago. In all those millenia of use of cannabis, not one person has suffered an overdose, or medical harm from it.

Don't just believe the lies black market profiteers tell you to convince you to obey them, and to help them profit from their crimes. Do research and find out the actual truth.

Spread the word!
It's great to see drug culture changing all over the world. You hear people talk openly and intelligently about drugs more often than you used to.

That and the rise of cryptocurrencies makes me think we might just be alright (:

Excellent comment! UPvoted and followed! 😃

The US war on drugs finances the other side, in the US war on terror.
If they let US citizens grow their own poppies, ISIS and the Taliban would be penniless almost immediately.

I completely agree mate! UPvoted! I will be addressing your comment in the upcoming post! Thanks for taking the time to respond! 😉

horse-1844792_1920.jpg

First line glaucoma drugs lower intraocular pressure but do NOTHING to protect the optic nerve. Marijuana PROTECTS THE NERVE thus averting blindness.
I devoted a career to passing out drops that can cause heart attacks, knowing that pot was a better therapy and knowing if I ever told a patient that I would be unemployed.
It is a scam that is all about protecting Pharma profits.

Best. Thread. Ever...

The war on drugs is an absolute money making scam. People with drug additions should be helped with their problems not made into a criminal and ruin their life even more. The real bad drusg like the antidepressant and the caffeine and the alcohol are the ones we should be getting people off. The whole concept is completely bazaar if anyone takes five minutes to actually think about the war on drugs!

If anyone takes five minutes to think- about ANYTHING, the world would be a better place

Thank you! 😃
