Despite the continued difficulty to find great #introduceyourself posts, I continue to find small pockets of potential given the fact that it seems as if those arriving on the platform have more interest in the social and community aspect than the financial one. I believe that is promising as it should improve retention levels as users associate themselves with the great communities that continues to flourish and grow within the ecosystem. I have also started to see more projects come into the mix rather than just individuals. I welcome these projects as they could be new communities that foster engagement among those with similar interests in the ecosystem. Some also have the potential to bring users from outside the ecosystem to establish presence here which is always a great story to tell.

One thing I have thought about this past week is what really defines a good #introduceyourself post? I have honestly not found much correlation between those that remain active after the post and the content or format they share but thought I would provide some thoughts of my perspective. I will begin by saying that my own Introduction Post would have not made my cut into my current curation efforts (which is why I barely got a payout for it at the time)! However, I believe that a good #introduceyourself post will have an introduction of who you are from a background perspective, not your personal information like name and location. I also think that an important thing to present is how you arrived into the ecosystem and what is the objective of your blog or account. The type of communities you have interest in as well as the type of content you would like to share are also good information to have in order to start gauging interest in your “brand.” While I think this could be done in a few sentences, I think that the effort taken to go into these details whether with experiences or pictures provides a glimpse of your capabilities in the future.

One thing I have come to believe is that if there is a limited effort put into your first post, you would never put in any effort into any other nor add value to anyone else’s content. I may be completely wrong and also believe that absolutes are never the truth but do think that this is a fair general observation. However, I recognize that my expertise is limited to the year I have engaged with the community and by no way am I an expert. Therefore, I am asking the community to help me and provide me thoughts about what really makes a good #introduceyourself post. While I have lacked the ability to really get broad readership of some posts, I hope that those that do can help by resteeming this post in the effort to gain as much feedback as possible. I will reward those that provide valuable comments, including providing links to great examples of past posts, with not only my upvotes but also with sponsorships to @steembasicincome SBIs. I will also put my very first Steem Bounty on this post (if I can figure it out)!

The following are this week’s curated #introduceyourself posts from new Steemians! Please consider providing them a visit to help them onboard and provide them with motivation towards the future:

@aularluis is a young new newcomer from Venezuela whom brought an interesting introduction post for the community to see. He created a poster like Photoshop introducing himself! I had never seen it before so it caught my attention. He is an engineer and also likes to design on the web with many additional hobbies as well. In addition to IT and AI passions, he also enjoys learning about the Solar System as well as cryptocurrencies. Another great thing he does is support a youth group like the Scouts that meets periodically with the goal of forming youngster into responsible teens that are not taken by the Streets.

@ratkostambolija is a computer engineer searching to continue his journey in blockchain by becoming more active on his STEEM account which he had never used before to post. He continues to be passionate about blockchain and cryptocurrency and has even co-authored two books on the subject. His main goal is to improve in every he does from writing his books to the basic things everyone does every day. He also has said that he hopes to have some financial gain from his experience here which I feel adds to how genuine the introduction post sounds.

https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@meowgan/who-am-i-introducing-myself-to-steemit

@meowgan is a young New Yorker that has just joined the ecosystem and wanted to share some of things she enjoys like her cats, memes and music. She also has an interesting interest in crystals and healing as she has recently been learning more about them to help her through some lifestyle issues she has dealt with in the past. She comes her to not only share her experiences but also learn from others and find communities with similar interest to enjoy her experience.

https://steemit.com/stateofthedapps/@stateofthedapps/introducing-state-of-the-dapps

Great to welcome @stateofthedapps to the #STEEM community as we have recently been excited about joining theirs as well. Through various community-driven efforts, they have started to highlight Steem-based DApps on their site to enable developers and investors to monitor progress of individual projects as well as other blockchains. The thought is to raise awareness of the ever-growing movement towards decentralized blockchain solutions in many industries and economies.

image001.png

I hope this to be an evolving process to the benefit of the community so please continue providing feedback to support these and all the new users coming to the platform. I am looking forward to more new users coming and engaging with the community to solidify the social aspect of the #STEEM blockchain.

Have there been any new users you have found that I can pay a visit to? How can we continue to support new users in order to manage their expectations coming to this new platform? I look forward to your thoughts and feedback in the comments below!

I look forward to seeing the community actively engaged to provide feedback to support incoming users with the proper education and motivation to get off on the right foot in the ecosystem!

I find that introduceyourself posts where people actually take the time to mention things like a few hobbies, their interests, what they do to support themselves... those definitely grab my interest. And if they mention who or how they discovered steemit I think that is an interesting aspect.
Things that don't work for me- a single photo with almost no personality and nothing written in the post. If your personality is mostly selfies and you cannot string 3 complete sentences together, that is a big Nope.
Today I found- @sabrinferno 's first post interesting enough to follow her, to see where she ends up.

I agree! It’s unfortunate that many lose that opportunity to cause a good first impressions but I think it is more due to the lack of education and onboarding as well. Thanks for sharing!

great work on finding these introduction posts, I know how hard it can be.

There are often times I find an intro post that is not all that 'good' but I may have similar interests to the person, and so engage. Many people dont really understand the value of a good intro post, until they have been here some time. So potential needs to come into it too.

Nice work on setting the bounty by the way. I haven't done this myself yet, was it difficult to figure out?

Thanks for passing by! I agree and it is why education during onboarding should be more purposeful and targeted for new users. I look forward for more communities to step up like @steemonboarding to do so.

@steem-bounty was much easier than I thought! There website is great to help through the process but I did it through a direct transfer. However, I was surprised it didn’t attract as much engagement as I thought (even though the amount of comments I got on this post is much more than I usually get so may need to rethink my expectations).

I sincerely had no idea what I wrote on it more than a year ago. You made me scroll all the way down to find this nostalgic post.

Btw, I also released my first ever @steem-bounty 2 weeks ago, celebrating my 1 year anniversary here on Steemit.

Here is how it looked like: https://steem-bounty.com/services/forever/@diogosantos/introduceyourself-or-here-is-my-presentation

Thanks for sharing! Great to celebrate the first anniversary! Wish you a great New Year 2019!

Incredible job my friend @newageinv thank you to you for doing that with the new community members ..

For sure...!!! I´ll be here waiting for some incredible news...!!!

The best for you...!!!

Wow! Thanks @newageinv for supporting new steemians.
Sure, there's no second chance at making another 'first impression'... Most introduce yourself post are written without any particular guide and this may result in little or no support/motivation to the new steemian in the long-run.
I wrote mine by just going through some previous introduce yourself posts by others and finding common information therein.

That is a great strategy for new users. I think I did the same but got anxious and wrote something immediately!

Whatever you did must backfires to you, as you did good post for other, you must get reward for it. Here is my little post for new year...https://steemit.com/steem/@aasanka/you-must-be-happy-for-reaching-2019

i really appreciate the way you are trying to build this ecosystem. but unfortunately i missed that introduction part. at that time, as a beginner i did not know introducing my self was stepping stone to big success in steemit.

If you have never done one, I think you can still give it a try! It may not be as attractive to others but always better late than never!

A few weeks ago i had my first anniversary on steemit. My first #introduceyourself Post was not the best one- so i decided to write another one, when i reach the 60;-)

Congratulation to your cool Project and work!
Happy New Year and greetings from LowerAustria,
Robert
