The Old Dog: Finally Learns This New Trick And Profits? (Updated to Show Actual Results!)

in #busy7 years ago (edited)

Yes Old Dog's like me are creatures of habit and while we can learn new tricks it takes a little prodding. By not using busy.org to make my blog posts I've been missing out on big (updated to reflect reality :)) profits and maybe you have to! Let me explain.

What is busy.org?

Busy.org is simply another user interface onto the Steemit blockchain, one that is sponsored and promoted by Steemit Inc. In fact, if you watched @sneak's presentation at Steemfest 2 you heard him explain that the hope of Steemit Inc. is that Steemit.com (the interface that I have always used for my posts) will be used less and less percentage wise as more and more interfaces offer access to the Steemit blockchain. Watch his presentation. It will motivate you to keep blogging!

Did You Know That Busy.org Will Pay You to Use Their Interface?

This payment will come in the form of an upvote from their account @busy.org and it works like this:

  • To get an upvote, you need a minimum of 500 SP following you
  • To get a 100% upvote (over $56 as I write this), you need 12 Million Steem Power total following you
  • The bot will upvote you based on the weight of your followers
  • Make sure to use "busy" as one of the tags

How Do You Check The Weight of Your Followers?

You can find this info if you look here: https://steemdb.com/api/accounts?account=kus-knee change kus-knee to your username and search for the field followers_mvest. (This value is in VESTS, to get a 100% upvote you will need 25 billion VESTS) Please note: For me this doesn't work in the Firefox browser but does work in Safari! (I'm not sure why)

In my case a search shows that my followers have a total of 21,265,086,955.313 vests. To figure out the percentage of the vote that I will receive we need to divide 21.265/25 and the result is 85%.

By checking steemworld.org/@busy.org we can see that with their voting power right now is at about 80% and it is worth around $45. I should get a vote worth 85% of that or about $38.25 wow! This will be my first time posting using their site so let's see if it works! I'll update the post with these results.

At Steemworld.org you can see the power of a vote from @busy.org

This is an Experiment as It's my First Time Using busy.org!

As I outlined in this article by posting on busy.org this time I should receive a vote from them at about 85% of their power which is worth about $38.25. I will now upload this post and then come back here and edit it showing if it worked as I had hoped. My research shows me that their vote should arrive after about 35 minutes.

The Vote Has Now Come In!

I now need to amend the post as the actual upvote was at about 4.25% or about $2.00. Still a bonus but not what I had calculated. Either they have changed things or my math was wrong. Any thoughts?

What About You?

  • Did you know about this vote from busy.org?
  • Have you alre4ady used busy.org?
  • If you use busy.org do you prefer it over steemit.com? If yes why?

I hope that you enjoyed this article "The Old Dog: Finally Learns This New Trick And Profits!"

Until next time,

Great to see you started using this platform now. I remember, I had mentioned about it long time back in one of my comments to your post. But I didn't make any compelling argument to use it. Now I think you have missed the golden period when you could have got a 100% upvote from the busy bot. I've been using busy even before their version 2 was publicly released and have seen a continuous decline in the voting percentage despite a slight increase in my follower mVest. The reason is that they keep changing the aggregate follower SP figure required for 100% upvote to accommodate increased usage of the bot. The 25 billion figure you are quoting is quite old. It has been changed 3 or 4 times since then. Also, earlier the bot used to vote instantaneously but now it votes after 30 minutes to get a share of its curation reward.

Anyways, I didn't loose much as I never had a great following ...esp. any whale / dolphin following. So whatever I used to get was a good motivation to use this platform. And I find several advantages in using this platform over steemit. In fact, this is my most fav platform to access Steem blockchain.

P.S.:

In case, if anyone here wants to know more ways to get upvotes, do refer my post 101 WAYS TO GET EASY UPVOTES and don't feel like you have missed something later 😊

Great information! Thanks so much for this. Where did you get their latest statistics as to mVests as I took the info from their last published post on the subject.

Actually for me anyway the Busy.org interface is harder to use than the Steemit.com which works more like a word processor. I wrote the whole post using markdown.

I will certainly refer to the post that you wrote as I am always anxious to learn more!

Well, I don't keep track of the exact figure as I don't make any dedicated effort to appease or woo any follower who has got a huge SP. But I see the regular decline in my busy upvotes. And when I see the decline, I guess that they have updated the figure. e.g. todayI received only 28 cent upvote i.e. 0.36% VW whereas until my previous post 2 days back I used to get about 80 cents worth of upvote.

You can always check the current details for their bot software at:
https://github.com/busyorg/busy-robot/blob/master/events/vote.js#L14-L15
It's:
MIN_VESTS = 20000000; // 2 Dolphins ~ 10 000 SP
MAX_VESTS = 500000000000; // 500 Whales ~ 250 000 000 SP

So even 500 SP aggregate mVest followership won't result in any upvote now. You can ask fabien for further details in case this is not enough.

I thinkyou like Steemit interface more because of your familiarity and comfort level because you have been using it for long. Since I'm quite new here, it was easier for me to switch. But I really don't know why you encountered any problem using markdown. Busy platform supports all markdown and like steemit, it's new version has a preview feature too. It does work almost similarly. Plus you get added features too. It also loads faster compared to Steemit but it's of concern for people like me who have got a slow connectivity. But yes, to each his own.

And I can understand that this less than $2 upvote is not motivating enough to switch the platform for you. So I don't think the post I mentioned above is for you. I had written it for newbies only.

P.S.:
You can use a small trick. Make your draft on Steemit and then copy-paste (with all your markdown) the same matter in busy, use a busy tag and post. I think, this much effort you can make to redeem the $2 busy offer 😜
(TBH, I started up with this trick only).

Good "conversing" with you again @xyzashu!

I saw a post from the busy team a while ago. So many were starting to use it that they had to start changing the figures to maintain a decent voting power. Glad you are on the busy train old dog!!

You're on the busy train? Then we should all be on board!

I am indeed! The vote is quite small as you had noticed but it used to be quite large. Ah, as one door opens another closes or something like that...lol!

Cool, so we are now three in the bus gents - i agree with comments above on decreasing vote % - but all fine.

Hey @uwelang, I saw that you passed through Switzerland. Too bad I was in Tenerife at the time!

Indeed my friend - however I still have a lot to write about this beautiful area

Thanks for the info, but is the post editor good to use? I kind of like the interface but I never tried to post through busy.... Welcome back!

For me the post editor was difficult. In the end I wrote everything on Steemit.com changed it into HTML code then used an HTML to Markdown converter and placed the markdown code into the busy.org editor. All of this gained me an upvote of about $2.50 which at current prices is more like $20.00. I'm sure that there is a better way!

I tried it out this morning and since I already used Markdown in the steemit editor it was ok, not used as the steemit one though... I'll pubblish today let's see how much it turn out!

I will have a look at you post when you post it. We need to talk soon about the Steem Cards.

Yep! I'll be out for a couple of days, does it fit for you the next week?

Nessun fretta perfetto!

Thank You for exellent explanation and great advice. I will try today

I now need to amend the post as the actual upvote was at about 4.25% or about $2.00. Still a bonus but not what I had calculated. Either they have changed things or my math was wrong. Any thoughts?

I beleive more in www.steemfollower.com - excange votes

I do use busy already; but those facts you gave are very good to know. That is something I didn't know.
Busy works fine on your phone, is fast and very easy to use. Furthermore it is very stable and so far always working.
Thanks for his great post.

Are you using the tag "busy"? If not you won't get the upvote.

Busy is quite slick, but I'm not sure I enjoy their posting interface that much. Still, I made my latest post there and I'm going to give them a chance. The fact that you get a bot vote from them too is not so bad and I remember that I got one before when I posted while steemit was experiencing problems.

I'm also struggling to get used to it!

Oh, yeah, that's why I haven't used them so much. But it might actually be worth it and I like their interface for browsing for stuff to read. It surely looks a bit more modern than steemit.

thank you @kus-knee for this post and it helps to those who did not know about busy.org services.
I came to know about busy.org sometime back, when Steemit.com had a DoS attack and I managed to use it to posting my post.
I have been using it for my every post, but not getting that much vote but it is okey with me.
Their service is good and love the interface also.

Cheers!

Do you write your posts using markdown?

I do not know much about markdown, but I have use it few times. For me markdown little bit hard to remember.
What about you?

does markdown help? I am new to this site, and any information on how to succeed is a bonus, so if I start using busy.org now, hopefully it will pay off in the future, as my following grows. cheers.

I would suggest that for the time being you use what ever interface is easier for you as right now busy.org wil likely add next to nothing. If you use Steemit.com you can easily add headings, italics, bullet points etc..

Try and make your blog look clean, neat and organized.

advice taken, superb, only been here for a week, so a sharp learning curve for me, thanks.

Why? I don't find any such problem in using Busy platform. markdown works very well there too!

I have always used busy.org, fair enough when I started it's upvote use to be very tiny but later it became a bit higher, well I'm working harder, to accrue enough weight through followers, thanks for this piece of info,

Good to know. It's hard for me to get used to using it but well worth the effort!

Lol hahaha well sometimes we are carried away using the main steemit platform lol

I sometimes use.

But - they vote only once a day, it's worth considering :)

And for me their voice costs only 0.4 cents. Not bad, but sometimes I'm too lazy to post once a day with their service :)

Thank. This is extra info for me!

I actually use both. But I am using steemit.com less and less. I use busy to compose nearly all of my posts. I was forced to start using back in October when there were issues with the DDoS attacks. I've been happy with the experience every since. I find the busy.org interface to be more web 2.0 like and intuitive.

I'm struggling with it so far but then again I'm OLD and set in my ways!

Grazie per i consigli utili :-))) Best wishes for this year!

Sono contento che hai visto questo. Ti sto aspettando a Steemit.chat!
