John made sure that she ate nutritional food to sustain her health and to help the baby grow healthily, but Julia couldn’t stand picking up weight and cried every single day at the sight of herself in the mirror.

To him, Julia was more beautiful than ever. It was a horrible agonizing nine months, and when Alexis was finally born it was the happiest day of his life.  It was the worst day of Julia’s life.

She had no maternal instinct, and John had to take two weeks off to care for the baby. Julia refused to breastfeed, and the baby seemed like a foreign object every time she held her.  Julia went back to work exactly three weeks after the baby was born, and took another job in Paris.

She left him with the baby, and he had to appoint a day nurse to look after Alexis. He came home straight after work, and every time he saw Alexis she was even more beautiful for him. The day nurse prepared everything for the night, and he spent the night looking after the baby.

He started to resent Julia for leaving the baby with him, but she seemed so excited when she came back after her month in Paris. He had hoped that she had changed her views, because she brought bags of clothes for the baby.

But the excitement didn’t last.  It was as if something was chasing Julia. She just couldn’t settle down. He tried to get her more involved with the baby, but Julia did not seem interested. She was not a mother, and he took it upon himself to spend as much time with the baby as possible.

Julia Belmont was born and raised in Paris. From a very young age, people were attracted to her. She was a beautiful child, and everyone was intrigued by her. She did her first advertisement at the age of nine months.  She landed her first modelling job at the age of ten, and at sixteen she was well known in the modelling world in Paris.

At eighteen she went to study Art at the Sotheby institute of art. She was very passionate about her art, but in the end, she chose to continue with her modelling.  At the age of twenty-two she was offered a three-year contract with Vogue in New York.

Julia Belmont had traveled the world before she was twenty-five. She still loved art, and when her friend invited her to go to the art show of a new upcoming artist, she was ecstatic.

She was intrigued by his work, and there was one specific painting that caught her eye. She walked over and felt instantly attracted to the man standing there. She had never been so attracted to anyone in her whole life and she was glad when she saw him at the pub after the show.

It was not her favorite type of hangout, but she couldn’t help herself that night. It was as if she was mesmerized by John, and they talked as if they were old friends. She was over the moon when he invited her out again, and she knew she loved him when she saw him that following evening.

Julia and John became inseparable, and she felt protected for the first time in her life. The day they got married was the most wonderful day of her life, and their honeymoon in Paris was extraordinary.

She was sad when they had to go back to New York, but she couldn’t live without John. He was the air that she breathed, and he was the blood flowing through her veins.  Julia was busy most of the time, and the work started piling up.

She had enough money to stop working but her job gave her the opportunity to be herself, and to show Julia Belmont to the world.  She felt horrible when she became pregnant, but she knew she couldn’t go ahead with it. Her whole life would change, and she was only twenty-seven years old.

A baby was the furthest thing on her mind and not on her agenda. If ever.

She had never seen John more heartbroken than the day she went for the abortion, but she knew it would destroy them and she would not be able to put the pieces together again.

She had never envisioned herself as a mother. She had been working ever since she was a child, and she skipped the whole part of trying to achieve her dreams. She was living her dreams, and she had always gotten everything she wanted. She had a perfect world and a baby would change that.

She wanted to go back to Paris but she had to take John into consideration. His job was important to him, although she had enough money to take care of them both. They were soulmates.

When she became pregnant the second time, she did just that. She wanted to give a piece of her to John, because she knew how much he wanted a baby. In her mind she wanted to give him everything he dreamed of, but she just couldn’t.

The pregnancy made her feel sick all the time and she knew she had made a terrible mistake. There was no turning back and she had to push through. She hoped that things would change after the baby was born but it didn’t. The baby was now an obstacle and she had to get away.

She found her sanity again in Paris, but strangely felt guilty and torn. She missed John terribly and even put in effort to buy some baby clothes.

John was glad when she came back and he was excited about the effort she put in for Alexis, but there was absolutely no bond between her and Alexis.

Every time she picked up Alexis, she cried, and John had to take over. It was never going to change.  She poured her soul into her work and resented the baby for changing everything. She no longer had a perfect life. Alexis complicated everything. She was losing her soulmate to her own daughter.

It's a really good story and a topic that you don't see discussed but should. Women are expected by society to be natural mothers and when they aren't they are punish or seen as terrible people. I feel bad for Julia that she doesn't feel maternal or bonded with her baby. Some women don't have that ability. I don't think she's a bad person for that. Some women are made to more maternal and some aren't.

Very true. My grandma didn't like to cook or give too much affection. My grandpa did all that...and I didn't know till I got older about "roles". BS imo

It is very true. No roles in my house, everyone cleans, and cooks. My sons have to be able to look after themselves and not be dependent on anyone.

My teens are making Mac n cheese and think they are chef's. It's so funny. Thank you Food network! Lol.
