The right time - Chapter 1

Alexi closed her eyes and tried to sleep. She pulled the pillow over her ears not to hear the fighting. It’s been going on for nearly an hour now and she couldn’t stand it anymore. Her parents fought a lot, but tonight was worse than ever. 

Her father usually sent her up to her room, but her mother didn’t care who heard the fighting. 

The sound quieted down a bit and Alexi heard the front door. Her father usually left the house after a fight but came back the next morning. Tonight was different. Julia stormed out in a rage and he didn't know if she was coming back.  

Alexis McCartney has heard more fighting in her short lifetime that she ever should. At the mere age of three she knew exactly when she had to make herself scarce.  

John McCartney felt heartbroken. He poured himself a stiff drink, downed it quickly and then slowly walked upstairs to check on his daughter. He opened the door and saw that Lexi had pulled the covers over her head. He knew that she heard the whole fight and he felt ashamed. 

He would do anything to protect his daughter, but he couldn’t tonight. What happened tonight was worse than he could have ever imagined. They said things to each other and he didn't know if they could overcome this. 

John pulled up a chair and took a seat next to Lexi’s bed. He wanted to make sure she was okay. He was too upset in any case to go to bed.  Alexi had the exact same features as her mother and as he sat there staring at his beautiful daughter he thought about his wife.  

  

Julia Belmont was the most beautiful woman he had ever met in his life. They met at an art show of one of his best friends. At first, he didn’t want to attend, but it would have been rude towards his friend. His friend promised that they could go to the pub afterwards.  

He was just standing there wishing the time away while staring at one of his friend’s paintings, when Julia came up to him. She greeted him and stood beside him. He was intrigued by her accent, and the attraction was instant and magical. He introduced himself and she just nodded and smiled. 

That smile nearly knocked him off his feet. She smelled delicious. Julia was there with someone else, but he knew that he couldn’t let her leave without knowing where to find her again.    

He begged his friend to ask for her number, but instead he invited them all for drinks after the show.  They ended up sitting at the same table and he couldn’t keep his eyes of her. Every time their eyes met he felt a shiver go down his spine, and he knew that she was the one. 

It turned out the guy she was with was just a friend and he left early. She stayed, and they chatted all night. It was a night to remember. 

He couldn’t get her out of his mind and he took her out to dinner again that night. Julia was a source to be reckoned with. She was exuberant, but people loved her. She was an artist herself, and often expressed herself in ways that were not suitable, but it was Julia. 

Julia was loud and exciting, and she wanted to be seen and heard. The model agencies loved her, and she had more work than she had time.   

They started to see each other regularly and it was like a magnetic force pulled them together. They moved in together three months later and was inseparable. He was still mesmerized by her beauty and their passion for each other were extremely powerful and difficult to explain.   

They were married in the spur of a moment on Independence Day two months later, and they went to Paris for their honeymoon.
