Will bots conquer Steemit?

I have joined Steemit almost 4 months ago and at the very beginning I had no idea about how things works on Steemit. I had no idea why some people from trending or hot tabs had a lot of upvotes but few views.

I have seen a comment that people are using some websites (eg. Steem Voter) which help curators to upvote automatic the authors they have chosen, at the time they have chosen.

I was amazed, at that time I said that is not true but it seems it is.

I just selected some posts from trending & hot and let's see the ratio between number of upvotes and views.

And now comes the question of minnows:

How can I be added on curators list?

I am not considering myself able to give you advices but maybe some of these will help you.

  • Create connections on Steemit.chat. (don't spam)
  • Try to post regularly every day.
  • Try to be consistent.
  • Interact with others commenting on their posts.

Are these websites beneficial for Steemit?

Myself I believe there are advantages and disadvantages. These websites help curators to upvote their favourite authors at a favorable time for earning curation. These websites also help authors getting rewards and motivating them to post and to be more active.

But are these websites beneficial for the entire community and for Steemit itself?

After puzzling over the whole steemit platform for some time, my own very basic conclusion is every user just needs to put into it what they are happy with doing - do you want to create amazing blog posts and get a bit of a bonus with the potential payout - or just earn a little from basic posts and using the wide variety of tools to help increase the value of each and bump it by upvoting and commenting to gain curation rewards. Whatever way you want to go about it, the bots seem to be part and parcel of the platform.

Do what makes you happy. I do agree with you!

Hey @jwolf, thanks for the post! I'm from Brasil, and brazilian comunity here on steemit is growing slowly, but thats ok, this is life. Now we want leasing some steem power with minnowbooster for upgrade the power vote of one brazilian curator, and this curator vote on us group. I hope works.
Thanks for the tips, i really need make more contact in steemit chat!
Follow you. Greetings from Brasil.

I wish you good luck! Here in Romania the community is growing slowly too!

Hello, @jwolf Interesting post. I also found out the same thing and almost left the community feeling I can't do any good here. I joined this july means its already been 4 months since I joined and still not upgrading much. may be I'm too bad learing here.
I can see you really doing the best, Did you or do you invest your outside money here for powering up and all?

I didn't invest, I just worked a lot commenting on other posts being active even 12 hours a day :D

Really?? Inspired, do you know how much commenting is not spam here? And one more question, what do you think about those upvoting bot like randowhale ,Since I have few SBds now, I am trying them.

You can make money by commenting here. It's much easier than making money by posting in the beginning.

The average post on steemit gets less than 3 comments so your comment will be welcome on at least 75% of posts. Some people will answer and some authors (like me) will upvote your comment. Sometimes some other person will upvote your comment. Just make sure you are saying something relevant or asking a good question and you will get results.

I started at about the same time as both of you and I'm in the middle of your results. This is because I don't post much. If I posted as much and as well as jwolf, I would do better :)

I have a list of strategies for making money on steemit when you are new and they work for me. It's not a one day thing, but if you work it, you will do well in the long run.

Make Money Blogging on Steemit Top Tips and Checklist for Better Results!!

yeah I find it very difficult to earn from post . Its always 0.0x when I don't use booster.
Now I'm moving towards your post. Hopefully it helps me grow.

It will! Just work through it and find the things you like to do and do some every day. Keep in touch with me :)

Using some bots at the beginning will help you grow a lot. If you will combine those bots with a lot of comments daily, a lot of people will come to your posts!

thanks you guys are awesome.

@katteasis, you can also rent some SP to upvote yourself :)

Hi @jwolf, hi use steemfollower for upvotes and followers exchange, really good and helps me alot, never used steemvoter but looks alot like spam upvotes, from the good side you make some profit but nobody really reads the content you created so in the long term it does not encourage the creation of better content.
If they like to use it and does not break any rules, I am all for it ;)

I think you are right...

It's just crazy out there when you are getting started. Once you are in, you learn a lot about bots and other ways to get the elusive up-to-date.

I agree, you have to read a lot :D

the same things I notice, you put mouth to my thought!

I am glad man!

Same as my thought, you put words to my thoughts
keep it up :)

Steem On! Thanks!

most of the people do this. but this is very bad. i always want to share quality stuff. and you are one of them whom i saw here to share genuine content. keep steeming

Thank you! Steem On!

I would love to be on your steemvoter list mate, not for my personal gain but for support to the Steemit iron Chef contest I organize for all the foodies community! The SBD I make is mostly used for sponsoring the prizes given to 7 winners each week.

I am not using steemvoter mate! Let me see your posts!

Same here mate, i have never used it, I do all manually. Thanks so much for the vote my friend, really appreciate it! I do mainly food based post having an accent on progressive cuisine! And I run the Steemit Iron Chef Contest weekly and it turn out to be the most popular cooking contest on Steemit with +20 entries each week!

half of the steemit is totally automated hahh thanks to steem voter

MUCH more than half..over 90%

If you look @penguinpablo's steemit stats report about the day that steemit died, you will see that the posts went down by half and the comments went up slightly. He made the comment:

"I think it is proof that virtually all votes are done by voting-bots."

If you read the comments - you can see a bunch of us really upset by that one! I do what I can to comment and manually curate, but those of us who do that are more rare than I would have guessed.
Steem Stats Report - Results of yesterday's downtime

I read it..that's why I said what I did.

It is what it is at the moment. Maybe it's a good thing to have the voting strength centralized while Steem is still in BETA and there are some HFs planned. At least the witness consensus rate is good :)

At some point, the Steem distribution needs to dilute, else we're never going to have an attractive platform from the POV of a regular content reader/publisher.

Steemit has been in Beta for almost a year and a half.
Is that some kind of 'beta-record'?

No. The software HandBrake was in Beta for 13 years.

Gmail was in Beta for about 5 years. But then again, that's from Google, a rather unsuccesful startup. Very small, you probably haven't heard of them. They also go by the name Alphabet..

Just kidding, you get my point.

I think I've heard of google..
never heard of handbrake.

no gmail hold's the record for that

I don't think half, or it is? :O
