Where did this downvote slider come from?
Was there an update announcement that I missed? Has this button been here a long time and I somehow managed to not notice it until today?

If this is brand new, I hope there were other changes as well. I don't really think that I will be using a downvote slider as I tend to simply ignore content that I find to be dumb or offensive but I suppose this would be useful to someone.
For me anyway, if someone is going to take their time out to determine "precisely the amount of negative vote" to give a blog entry, that person has significantly more free time than I do.
I would be interested to hear your thoughts on this: What sort of real function does this have? Is it an extension of the flagging system for minor offenses as opposed to major ones like plagiarism?

we've always had one of these, but have i just been blind and not noticed the red one until today?
Please keep in mind that I am not saying this is a bad and / or dumb idea. I am more curious as to when did this happen and am I just so blind to my surroundings that perhaps it has been there for a long time and didn't notice it? I upvote a shitload of content every day and think i would have noticed before my 3rd year here.
On another note: I had previously said that the advertising didn't get on my nerves but the top sliding advert on occassion actually blocks my ability to see the title of my article - that's annoying :)

I wouldn't mind the advert in the compose page if it didn't expand anytime you scroll down this covering the title portion of the page

i saw downvote today in the morning.
We can upvote good posts and give SP/SBD to authors. i like the way the upvote weight works and i believe that downvote is a good addition.
i believe that i will not use it but it is good to be there.
the thing i dont get is the self-vote. i believe it will be good to be removed.
What is the reason of a self vote exists? i know that if i upvote my posts i will be rewarded but i believe that this is not ok to do.
Self voting is nothing new. I admit I self vote all my posts but I also upvote a bunch of other people. I suppose if someone was ONLY self voting I would have a problem with that

I think ignoring or giving a flag was the option for the negative messages on the platform that update happened very fast I was actually talking to you and a friend and then I see that option, actually while we maintain the respect I think we should not give us a vote below, I do not know if it subtracts $ I imagine that if .... Anyway for the few people who follow me and read me I do not think it affects me much the update is new and we will see how it works. Greetings.
I agree with you about the ads. I don't mind them as a whole. But the blocking on top is quite annoying.

There was a post asking people if they prefer flags or downvotes. The downvote option was added about 12 hours ago, I saw that last night while curating.

ah ok. I see the article now as it is a sticky at the top of my feed. It didn't appear in Partiko for some reason and I didn't see it until i got back to my PC. Thanks for the heads up. :)
You're welcome. Other dapps have the advantage to not show the pinned post from Steemit. They don't pin post, which is good I believe.
The problem with this pinning is that you can eliminate the pin but I think it comes back every time you open the app. It can be frustrating, especially if something irrelevant is pinned, like the other day.
The change happened like 10 hours ago, I dont plan or hope to use it as well, its meant to replace flags..and I also cant wait to see other new features...

It is what used to be flagging. There was a pinned post about it yesterday. There are a lot of people that are really up in arms about it. I agree with you. If I don't like something I typically just move on. It will be interesting to see how much this impacts the platform.

Hello @gooddream, I am happy to find your post that deals with this topic of downvote! because in recent days I had a problem with a bot (@ mack-bot) that makes me downvot without specifying the reason, and yet I make good posts and good comments original, I do not understand why they do like this !! it discourages me a lot, I contact him but he does not answer.
I think we need to update this problem and not let anyone downvote, because there are people who are really sick and who are going to block quality work that others do. .
I respect you for your way of seeing things that you said you do not do downvote and if the content you do not like you simply ignore it, and that's what I do too.
Now the worst thing is that these bots do not even look at the content and do downvotes !! then we must think about solving this problem, so as not to let the bad guys influence the evolution of STEEM.
