A MUCH Cheaper Way To Get Power Supplies For ASIC MinerssteemCreated with Sketch.

 Most Expensive

If You are like me and have gotten into bitcoin mining one of the major cost of setting up ASIC Miners is getting the proper power supplies that will last and not break your wallet. Time and Time again I see people buying regular computer PSU's (Power Supply Unit) to power there ASIC miners. While these power supplies are very good quality they will cost you an arm and a leg to power more than 1 Antminer S7. For instance the cheapest power supply on Newegg capable of powering enough wattage to power an S7 is the ENERMAX Maxrevo EMR1500EWT 1500W  This power supply would work but it will run you about $300.00

Another option to power your miner and probably the best way is to get an Antminer power supply that can power 1 or 2 Antminer S7’s Or S9’2. You can get one of these beasts directly from Bitmain or off of EBAY. Ebay will have a better selection but you can expect to get a better value from Bitmains Website. These power supplies will be as or more efficient than desktop Power supplies and cost far less. Instead of 300$, these will run you 100-200$ depending on where you get it.

 Cheapest

If you are looking to power you ASIC miner for very little money I would recommend the DELL N750P-S0 NPS-750BB A. These things are reliable and extremely cheap. The only area I know of that you can get them is EBAY but they will usually only cost about 10-15$ and I’ve seen them as low as 8$ a piece. With the lower cost though it will cost you a little extra work. Though. One thing to note though is that if you want to get the full 750 Watts out of them that are going to be very loud. They do have a low fan state that can be enabled but I would only recommend using this if you are only going to be drawing about 400 Watts or less out of them. There is a fairly tricky pin out you need to take note of which can be found here. These are the power supplies that I use to power my Antminer S7’s and a word of caution while you can power an S7 off of two of these it is not recommended because you will have to have power coming from both power supplies to power the middle hashing board. It is recommended that you use one power supply per hashing board. Plus with 3 of them, you can keep them in low fan speed mode.

Note: With this power supply you will have to either find or make your own connectors to hook your PCIE cables to the PSU.

 Overview:

To power my 3 Antminer S7’s this is how much it would have cost me depending on what method of power I went with.

Desktop PSU:

3x ENERMAX Maxrevo EMR1500EWT 1500W = $900

Bitmain PSU:

3x APW3+ 1600W = $315

Dell Server PSU:

Safe:        9x DELL N750P-S0 NPS-750BB A = $90

Budget:   6x DELL N750P-S0 NPS-750BB A =  $60

You can find a detailed pin out of the Dell N750P-So NPS-750BB A here.

Great info, it's like you read my mind! Will 1500w power supply work on S9? I'm in the US so can't really use BitMain APW3++ but EVGA is so expensive. I found Thermaltake 1500W for cheap. I don't know why it wouldn't work, but haven't read anywhere of anybody using anything except evga. Anyway, great post, thanks!
