The European Union, Bitcoin and freedom

Terrorism. If Randolph Bourne rightly said during World War I that "War is the health of the state," in the last forty years the excuse of terrorism has been the best balm found by governments in the world. In particular during the last decade, taking advantage of the situation that propitiates the situation in the Middle East, there is no individual freedom that can survive the increasingly "necessary" laws that strengthen security in our cities. All violation of privacy is not enough if we put on the other side the possibility of an attack.

In this way, we are less and less the parcels of freedom that remain free citizens, those who try to carry out a project of life without interfering in the rest, to those who practice the doctrine of "don’t tread on me”. One of the ways in which we try to escape the fiscal violence imposed by the State is thanks to the cryptocurrencies. So much is the success we have had since the game began 8 years ago that the reaction by the jailers has not been expected: the European Commission is already making preparations to demonize the crypto-currencies, as these are "sources of corruption, money laundering of capital and drug smuggling ". They have only failed to broadcast a capture of Silk Road by public television.

The objective is, of course, is to associate criminality with the brand of digital coins so that the ordinary citizen is suspicious of them. And why all? Because transactions between crypto-currencies are pseudo-anonymous, and that terrifies the eye of our particular Big Brother. The Leviathan never has enough.

At the moment the war has not begun, but without doubt we find ourselves before "the calm before the storm". In addition, we have in the regulatory obstacles that are already beginning to be patented on this and the other side of the Atlantic. Men and women around the world have a responsibility. We must defend, with our teeth and nails, until our last breath, the very essence of the human being: freedom.
