Happy Birthday, Romania!steemCreated with Sketch.

in #birthday8 years ago (edited)

Today, December 1st, we all celebrate our country's birthday. On December 1st 1918 Romania was finally a whole country, gathering together all the regions, some under different domination until then.
The emblem in the above image contains the initial emblems from different Romania's regions.

And because today is about celebration I will add below my personal Top 5 things to see in Romania.

1. Mountain villages

Pestera Village, in Brasov County

In this blessed villages, the time stops. I cannot get enough of the beauty and calm.

2. Danube Delta

I've wrote more about it in the article Tourist in Romania: Danube Delta

3. Transfagarasan road and Balea Lake

Some years ago Transfagarasan was mentioned as the most beautiful road in the world by Top Gear.

And this lake is one of my favorite ones. In summer, when it's very hot everywhere this place is like a fridge. The picture is taken in September.

If you are interested in see more about the mountains around Balea Lake you can check my 2 posts:

4. Sighisoara

It's the only medieval city where people still live and there are festivals happening periodically, celebrating the heritage and old traditions.

5. Maramures

An abundance of culture, history, national treasures and the most welcoming people in Romania. More about it in another article. The picture is with Barsana Monastery.
