Today's post is a fusion of geography and art: I decided to tell you about the landscape features of the northern beaches of Menorca, decorating the text with quite a lot of bright photos.

Menorca is a small island, only about 25 km wide and 50 km long, but it's not about the size, but about the content of this territory. With confidence I can say that I did not expect so many beautiful places per square kilometer. At the moment I managed to have visited, probably, 20% of the beaches. And in Menorca there are more than 100 of them! Some of them are at a distance «getting-out-of-the-car-and-already-sunbathing», to many of them one should walk through fragrant coniferous planting, and there are beaches that can only be reached by boat which are undeeplored territory for me.

The northern and southern beaches are absolutely different in their landscape and color. The first ones are rocky, mostly with low vegetation in the form of grass and shrubs, with sand of orange and yellow colors. The second ones are also rocky, but with a large number of coniferous trees, with white sand "a la Carribian style." A good alternative to diversify landscape before your eyes, not to get bored, alternating travel on both sides of the island.

Most tourists, however, prefer beaches with white sand, so it is not surprising that the "orange" beaches are almost never crowded with people.

Intricate rocks here were formed due to the strongest winds, which practically uninterruptedly blow in late autumn and winter. On these beaches it is very difficult to find a shadow, so the umbrella, cap and T-shirt are mandatory attributes on a hot summer day. In the local waters there are many fish, so snorkelers might enjoy them very much.
On none of the far northern beaches (at least this is my personal observation) there aren’t toilets, stalls, restaurants, not even garbage cans. Nature as it is. Hence the advice: everything you need one should to carry with himself.

Cala Pilar

This beach is one of my most amazing discoveries. It is 2 km from the parking. As it turned out, or rather, it was seen from above, at this beach they prefer not to wear bathing suits. For the intact nature and purity, I called this beach "the place of Adam and Eves.»

Macar d’Alfurinet

The beach is located 20 minutes walk from the previous one. Why is it special? In the long run, in general, there is nothing special about it. Reddish pebbles, the same color of earth, rocks all around. But this beach has a secret ...

From the glance, these are usual pebbles.

And now I’m stepping onto them. And there is magic, visual illusion. The pebbles seem to be not usual ones, but large stones, so a person on their background as if went into another dimension and became a Lilliputian. Look!

Cala Pregonda

This is another "Martian" corner of the island. There is not one, but three beaches at once. They, for sure, are called differently, but for me it's all Cala Pregonda. Fascinating stones sticking out from under the ground and there is not a gram of shadow.
By the way, after walking the shoes will acquire the appropriate shade, which is heavily washed. I already spoiled so my sneakers and next time I will put on shoes of dark color.

Cala Tirant

When I was on this beach the sea was stormy a bit. I jumped on the waves like a child, got a lot of fun, but had forgotten to take off the earrings. When leaving the water I found that only one was stayed in the ear. Those were nice earrings, my favorite ones...
