Using Libra energy in real life

Now that the wrap-it-up-get-it-done-move-on-to-the-next-thing mentality (and pressure ) of Virgo has begun to release its grip on us all for another year, it's time to step into the more sociable, congenial climate of Libra. Partners get more attention during this friendly, convivial sign as we work on how to manage our lives and accommodate others.

During the first six Zodiac signs every year, we work on ourselves ... our self-development and growth, getting established and stable, basically getting our own stuff together.

Time to partner up ...

Theoretically then, by the time Libra comes around, we're fit company for other people. We've done our self-work so we can turn our attention to partners. We don't need someone to carry us, or help us out or take care of us (because we can't manage to do that without "support" for some reason) ... we're ready to contribute to a bigger version of life -- as part of a team.

You have to live differently when you're part of a union than you do when you're single. You must take "your other half" into account -- and accommodate their needs and desires. They get a say in life's direction. You don't call all the shots. And for all of us, this can take some adjustment.

... and work as a team.

In Libra, we learn to work as at least one member of a couple -- but your involvement with other people in any number of ways ... increases. Give some attention to the other people in your life and how you relate to them.

Libra is not a time to try to go it alone. That's simply counter to the way the energy currents are running.

Other people have assets.

Other people extend our vision -- and our reach. They can be our entree into the wider world. They can give us a grander vision of life and its potentials.

They can enhance our prospects and boost our possibilities with their labor and assets. Two working together can be a much better, stronger arrangement than both working alone.

Sadly, that's not always the case. But a relationship where one person does nothing but take is not a positive one, and likely won't last. Which brings up another point: Libra is also about balance.

Two are stronger than one.

Libra is about relationships -- and working comfortably with them. So have a look at the connections in your life. Examine what you get from them -- and what you give back. See if you need to make some adjustments. (There's that issue of balance again.)

Look at what you contribute. Do you pull your own weight? Look at what you get back. Are the benefits worth the cost?

Life works more easily in Libra if you're somehow paired up. For most people this means marriage, but any close relationship where you get to practice your social skills can work -- like with a best friend, a significant other, or even a group where participation is the key to its success.

Work on your social skills.

Now that the Sun is in Libra, work on your communications skills, your ability to compromise and cooperate, your ability to negotiate your way through conflicts so that, if possible, everyone wins -- including you. They say compromise is where both parties wind up equally unhappy, but if you can, try to shoot for something better than this.

Practice empathy. See life (and your situation) from the other person's perspective. Realize there are always at least two sides to every story. Work on that balance thing I mentioned. Work on creating harmony, equality, a situation where everyone does his fair share -- and is rewarded for it. Libra energy places great store by concepts of justice and fair play.

Make life pleasant ... for all.

So, be a team player. Take the other guy into account. Make choices that have "everyone's best interests" as part of the deal. Keep things fair and honest. Avoid conflict unless there is some important principle at stake ... or unless compromise on the contested point just isn't possible. Libra is into harmony and peace and everyone getting along. Every chance you get, emphasize those.

Strategize, organize, but use diplomacy, too. Focus on hearing everyone's ideas before making decisions. When you talk to each other be open and pleasant.

Finally, Libra helps you appreciate things like beauty and comfort. So have a look at your surroundings -- at home, at work. And do what you can to make those places more attractive and enjoyable -- so you and the important partners you're allied with enjoy spending time in them ... together.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.
