SIX planets in Capricorn!!

Well, it's time to talk about Mercury again. Mercury has recently changed signs from Sagittarius to Capricorn, which means a shift in your intellectual focus and overall perceptions about life and "how the world works" is underway. In fact, there is a huge collection of planets in Capricorn presently, making that energy really too prevalent and powerful for comfort. Mercury will be in Capricorn until January 31.

Things to know about Mercury

Mercury is Astrology's symbol for your conscious mind, your analytical reasoning abilities ... and your ability to interpret information from your physical senses, from conversations and reading and from first-hand personal experience.

Mercury's energy symbolizes how you think, the kinds of things that interest you, the way you learn ... and the topics you want to learn about.

You use your mind (your Mercury energy!) to form ideas and opinions. It gives fundamental information about the way you deal with facts, and the
way you perceive and define "reality." It shows the kinds of things that attract your attention ... and what you do with what you know.

Things to know about Capricorn

Capricorn energy is independent and solitary. Not in Scorpio's watchful and calculating way. Nor in the way of Aries, who is impetuous, self-motivating and hates having to take other people into account. Capricorn is ... aloof, reserved and ... ok, judgmental. It doesn't associate with "just anybody." Its companions and partners need to earn their place ... and gain his respect.

There is often a very lonely feeling in Capricorn energy. It classifies everything into levels, categories and strata. Capricorn sees other people as either "subordinates" (however he measures that) or ... he considers that they "outrank" him.

Very, very few of those around him are actually considered to be "on his level" ... meaning he doesn't really have friends and comrades as such. He's in a class by himself, and it's hard for anyone else to get in. He is very ambitious and a great organizer, but he doesn't really get chummy with anyone ... or "fraternize" with the troops. If and when he does, there's "a reason behind it." Sometimes that shows!

When these two energies combine

When Mercury is in Capricorn, your perspective changes from the bright-and-lively attitudes of Sagittarius into the more polished and professional ones of Capricorn. Your ideas lose the free-wheeling, risk-taking quality they've had for the last couple of months. (Mercury turned retrograde for a while in Sagittarius this time ... and so spent a lot of extra time roaming around in that sign.)

People in general think about their long-term goals -- and the work it will take to reach them. They pay attention to things like prestige, status, reputation and the honor they want for their professional accomplishments. Even if you aren't on some powerful career path, there are things you want to do with your life ... your time and the work you invest to make life prosperous. All these interests fall under Capricorn's rulership.

Attitudes are more pragmatic and reliable than the visionary enthusiasm of Mercury in Sagittarius ... which just ended. You're in no mood to take chances you haven't thoroughly checked out. Nor are you inclined to try something new. That will come along later, but right now you want to stick to tried-and-true methods and traditional strategies, things that have stood the test of time.

You want to play by the rules wherever you can ... because that kind of head-down, step-by-step progress looks like the best path to success to you now. That's actually a very good idea, especially for the next few weeks.

How to prosper with Mercury in Capricorn

  • List the "intellectual achievements" of your public / professional life to this point. Have an overview look at what you've accomplished.

  • Map out what you want to do with these assets, either to make them more solid and useful, to use them as foundations for new construction ... or both.

  • Look at where you are now ... and where you want to go from here. Map out the milestones, action steps and stages it will take to get from Point A to Point B. Doing this will suggest things you can do immediately and in the near future to accelerate your progress.

What to avoid with Mercury in Capricorn

  • Getting lost in "tunnel-vision" ... so you lose out on both the scenery around you and the "bigger picture." Both contain information you need to be aware of.

  • Getting bogged down in drudgery ... or being overwhelmed by just the thought of the work involved in hitting the targets you have in mind.

  • Being too dark, too cautious, too pessimistic about your ideas and prospects. "Having a bad attitude" only hurts your chances for success.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.

Excellent discussion here @enchantedspirit. The capricorn energy is all too obvious right now. I'm quite grateful for it though, has really helped me to buckle down and focus on the work that needs to be done. Much of my progress on Steemit has been a result of this energy.

I'm really enjoying your through breakdowns of the planets and signs here. It's really easy to digest and understand. You're doing great work here @enchantedspirit!

I just wrote a new article in the realms of psychological motivation. I'd assume the capricornian energy would appreciate it! Feel free to check it out here: How To Activate Your Mind's Propulsion Systems

I actually had my wife read this and it led us rto discuss a few things, she is more attuned to astrology than me but it was a good exercise for us both so thanks kindly

boo yah, mercury in capricorn! It is a placement that likes to get things done. This whole capricorn thing really seems proserous to those of us who want to get down and dirty with the hard work it takes to succeed. I naturally have mercury and venus in capricorn too, and although i like to talk sense I find it a little difficult to communicate sometimes haha.

Definately following, I have been waiting for an amazing astrology blog on here!

@enchantedspirit great job you created a very quality content from this post :)

I heart your posts and your photos, especially your comment about nature and it dissipating faster than we can save it, thank you as always for your astrological insights. Of course, I'm still waiting for a certain time of year ... you know ... summertime ... middle of the year ... when the Sun Gods come out ... and a creature with a mane roars with pleasure! xx

Always love these insights you make for us! Thank you. Isn't Aries ruled by Mercury?
