Mars ... still in Aquarius!!

It seems like Mars has been in Aquarius forever this year. This evening I looked to see when it would change signs (because it feels like it's been a mighty long time!!) ... and discovered we're only about halfway through the sign. Mars won't leave Aquarius until November 15.

Mars crossed into Aquarius in the middle of last May. It usually stays in a sign about 6 weeks, but this year, it turned retrograde and backtracked until the 27th of August. Remember all those stalled weeks of "doing work over" we endured this summer?

With six planets retrograde -- including dynamic Mars, it felt like life had come to a virtual standstill. This is not easy on someone like me, and I'm sure glad that's over for another couple of years.

Finally back into the light

But it appears this may have come to my attention once again because Mars finally moved out of its own shadow this past week. (It passed the degree of the Zodiac where it turned retrograde in May.) So ...now at last we can look forward to actual momentum and progress. What a relief.

Clearly the Cosmos figured we all had a lot of Aquarius related stuff for Mars to tend to this time before moving on to whatever comes next. Being a person who is really ready for "whatever comes next" ---> how about I write up a set of checkpoints to use during this last phase of Mars in Aquarius so we can all put our attention on what's important now.

Writing is one of my favorite ways to think out loud ... and wow, does it ever help me focus. I learn new stuff whenever I do this, so maybe I have to admit I do these blog posts as much for myself as anyone else. Since Astrology is such a marvelous tool for living a more conscious life, it's beyond foolish to know all this stuff (which took me decades of study to learn) and not use it. Even if it's just for me. So ... let's go.

What Mars means

In Astrology, Mars symbolizes action. It describes the way you use physical energy -- to get things done, to accomplish work, to pursue your desires, to make things happen.

Anything that requires you to move, accomplish work or otherwise physically do something -- to spend energy and invest yourself in the outcome -- is described and ruled, directed and shaped, by the way you use your Mars energy.

What Mars in Aquarius means

Mars in Aquarius combines the drive, fire, passion and physical energy of Mars with the progressive attitudes of Aquarius -- the Zodiac's most intellectual sign. Aquarius is famous for concocting unusual, ingenious ideas -- often ones that have never been tried before -- or ones that have never been tried in exactly that way before -- and with Mars in this sign, these notions now have the resources to take action.

Aquarius is a very humanitarian energy, and Mars here is justifiably considered the Social Justice Warrior of the Zodiac. Despite the current political climate that is not an insult. Mars in Aquarius puts itself on the line to fight for important causes that advance society's development and benefit mankind.

And what else?

Mars in Aquarius goes out of its way to help others -- even total strangers and people it may never know. It works to create changes that will build a better future for everyone. It has a progressive vision of "how life can be" that it's willing to fight for. And with the accumulated wisdom of experience behind it from the time Mars was last in Aries (late January 2017), it's ready to take a stand.

Mars in Aquarius is eccentric and highly independent. It doesn't give a hoot about "history" or "tradition" or "respect for authority." It's guiding light is "the future" and "what improves life" and "doing what works!!" It's willing to experiment, to try original concepts, to do something different -- because that's the only way to get something other than what you already have!!

Mars in Aquarius encourages both brilliance and courage -- which is a winning combination. It invites us to think for ourselves, to take chances, to try new things -- new ideas / new strategies / new concepts -- and put ourselves out there for the sake of our future and for what we believe. If we're ever apt to follow some of our most outlandish and idealized dreams ... this is the energy that will help us take that chance with joy and determination.

How to work with Mars in Aquarius

What are your most cherished dreams? What are your most urgent goals? What do you want to accomplish? Invite your Creative Genius to come forward and hold a conversation. Brainstorm possibilities. Take notes. Don't reject anything, no matter how impractical or outlandish. This list could turn into pure gold.

Select the items that appeal most to you. (Not necessarily just the ones you think you can "settle for.") Ask your Creative Genius, your Higher Self, your connection to Divine Source -- anyone or anything you think can help -- for ideas and guidance on how to make these goals happen. Again ... take notes. Make this a project!

And what else?

Watch for answers, signs, synchronicities -- "lucky breaks." Listen to your inner voices ... your inspiration. The idle musings that come to you when you focus your requests ... and then settle down enough to hear yourself think ... can present some of the most interesting possibilities. Respect them -- and teach them to work for you. Again ... take notes. Try different things. See what works. Keep doing that.

Look at life from a different perspective. Play "what if ...?" with yourself. Be brave. Be original. Be yourself!! Don't do what everyone else is doing. Break-throughs don't come from following the herd. Encourage your inventiveness and innovation. Step outside your comfort zone -- and find out what's "out there." Set some new boundaries on what you can and will do.

Ask yourself seriously ... what kind of future do you want to create? What part do you want to play in it? What do you want to contribute that makes "the world of tomorrow" better? What would improve your life? And how can you then expand this into a gift everyone can enjoy? (Even if it's setting the example of how to live according to your own standards and values ... that alone can be a blessing.)

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.
