What's happening?

Mercury no sooner tripped into Scorpio than he formed an opposition with Uranus -- the first time these two have met in these signs in over 80 years. We've had 7 years recently of Mercury opposing Uranus from Libra to Aries.

This mostly involved partners having a few choice words about your new-found independence. These were years when you worked to reclaim your lost self-reliance and partners had to adjust -- because you certainly weren't going to.

And there's more

Now -- and for the next 7 years -- we have new themes to work with. Mercury in Scorpio is intent on solving mysteries, uncovering secrets, dealing with hidden information ... and understanding life on a very basic -- even raw -- level. Uranus is Astrology's symbol for surprises, revolution and upset. In Taurus, this will affect money, property, possessions, financial structures and the banking industry.

In the outer world, this may predict upsetting financial news, disclosures that jangle the economy, or revelations that impact matters of property, income, or support sources. On a personal level, you may receive information, news, insights or ideas that impact the way you handle matters of money, property, income, possessions, etc.

Theme

Exceptional intellect and intuition
bring unexpected discoveries and sudden insights.

What to expect?

  • A restless, jittery feeling / insomnia / anxiety / "unable to turn off your mind"
  • Problems in social relationships ---> you say things that people take wrong ... or say things that come out wrong
  • Surprising insights based on intuition that turn out to be "pure genius"
  • Discovery of knowledge or new information that answers questions / solves mysteries / explains something puzzling
  • Extreme independence in the things you say and think ... and the decisions you make ... and the behavior that follows
  • Statements that upset people because they "hit a nerve" with their perceptions & accuracy

Who are the players?

Mercury in Scorpio ---> brings a mental energy that is sharp, powerful and very discerning. It is especially interested in digging for answers and getting down to the truth ... and won't stop until it gets what it's after.

Uranus in Taurus ---> novel, experimental, unusual, revolutionary ways of dealing with currency, money, finances, economic decisions, property and possessions. Upsets in prevailing economic conditions. On a personal level, lots more independence in dealing with money, income, support sources, etc.

What are the complications?

Mercury Oppositions ---> show problems in relationships, arguments, differences of opinion and attitude. They forecast miscommunications, misunderstandings, confusion, having to deal with people who think very differently than you.

Uranus Oppositions ---> relationship problems because of erratic, unstable, demanding, off-the-wall attitudes and statements. As always, the energy flows both directions. You say and do things that drive other people crazy -- and people have bizarre reactions to things you say and do -- for reasons that are totally baffling.

What's the plot?
Mercury Opposing Uranus

Mercury opposing Uranus brings a time of eccentric opinions, inconsistent thinking, unreliable information and bizarre notions. It represents intellectual overload, an absolute powerhouse of originality and genius. But its inspiration, application, strategies and results are notoriously volatile, erratic and often downright strange.

This energy can change course faster than you can put words around thoughts. It constantly bombards you with "a better idea," a novel approach, an unorthodox presentation, an unconventional and ground-breaking concept whose creative wonder can literally take your breath away. It's next to impossible to keep up with its input and preferences ... and just the sheer volume of information it hands you to work with can be exhausting.

And there's more

Still, the partners involved in your projects now can be brilliant, inventive, progressive and amazingly clever. But they are also inconsistent, undependable, self-directed, strong-willed and not much concerned with practicalities. They're too busy reveling in their intellectual intensity and too insistent on marching to the beat of their own drummer ... who can be very, very, very different in the rhythm he sets.

As you can imagine, this energy brings conditions, attitudes, people and experiences that are high-strung, arrogant, exasperating, hard to manage and highly unreliable. It's easy to jump to conclusions, start off in one direction and then unexpectedly change your mind, create obvious -- but almost compulsive -- problems in your relationships, refuse to conform "as expected," and be decidedly attached to your own opinions!!

Of course ... everybody else is in the same frame of mind. So take a deep breath ... and let the fun begin.

How long does this last?

Another week or so.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.
