Another turn on Life's Spiral

The arrival of The Sun in the Zodiac sign of Aries means another season of growth and learning has begun. This year it happened on March 17 at 10:16 AM. Winter is over! Welcome to Spring.

Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, the fieriest of the Fire Signs. It ushers in a time of initiative, an upsurge of energy, reconnection with the Life Force ... and the time of rebirth and renewal that is the hallmark of yet another spring. Never mind all that hoopla and hooey that comes around every January 1. This ... in the language of the Cosmos, is the real beginning of another year.

So, since Aries hates to wait on anything ... even its own introduction, let's cut to the chase and get on with the show!!

Happy Birthday, Aries!!

Happy Birthday, Aries!! You are the birthday child this month, charging into a brand new year in typical fashion, head down, dust flying, moving right along for all your worth. Well, for just a few minutes, find a stopping point and a comfortable chair, sit your impatient self down and let's talk about us ... and all the wonderful things we are!! (That's right, I'm one of you -- and couldn't be prouder. What's the use of being the first sign in the Zodiac if the position doesn't come with bragging rights?)

Passion is never a problem for the Aries soul. Neither is self-assertion. Neither is being downright pushy and tromping on toes when that's what it takes to get the job done. We are long on initiative and ambition and notoriously short on tact -- although many of us aren't at all inclined to apologize for that. Whoever first said, "Lead, follow or get out of the way," was an Aries through and through. (Only what that person really meant was "I'm gonna lead. The rest of you follow. And God help anyone who doesn't get out of the way.")

Places to go, things to do

Aries people believe in going for their goals by the most direct available route. We don't mean to be offensive; it just happens that way sometimes. And it doesn't pour much oil on troubled waters when we answer complaints from less aggressive comrades (or victims) by saying, "I've got places to go and things to do. Build a bridge -- and get over it."

It's no great secret that as the first of the charismatic Fire signs (along with Leo and Sagittarius) we number ourselves among the fools who can (and often do) rush in where angels fear to tread. But we also know how to take care of ourselves when we get in a scrape. In mythology, Ares (yes, that's the correct spelling of the proper name) was a warrior. So too, at heart, are all those who share the personal qualities of this sign.

People to annoy

We are long on courage, brashness, and the heart to stand up for ourselves and our beliefs. We sometimes start a row just for the exhilaration of conflict. And no one would ever call us bashful. (Well, no one in his right mind anyway ... and never a second time.) We know how to stir things up, get things going. And we know how to "start something" ... if confrontation will clear the air.

If ever you need someone to watch your back, back you up, or stand shoulder to shoulder with you and not back down for nuthin' ... find out who among your friends is an Aries, and tell 'em what you're up against. You'll have your own private little army in no time.

We don't believe in "hanging back."

Leo may lead in large part through dramatic personal promotion. Sagittarius may lead through the power of philosophical persuasion. But Aries often leads because we know how to push our way to the head of the pack. We're not all that easy to domesticate. We've got way too much spirit of adventure in our souls to waste a lot of time tending the home fires (or hiding our lights under a bushel).

And no matter how tame we may seem on the surface -- or until you get to know us better -- there's always a little bit of the brawler and street-fighter in us ... ready to surface when we need it, or if it gets the chance.

Thank you for stopping by!

If you've always known there was more to Astrology than Sun Sign material and the three line daily horoscope in the newspaper, climb aboard and follow this blog. You'll find a world of wisdom detailing how you were designed to work with life ... and why you are the way you are -- all in quick-to-read, easy-to-digest-and-remember, written-in-plain-English essays that offer plenty of food for thought.

Little by little, I'm doing a set of articles that talks about all the elements in your horoscope and what they have to say about you. If you "know something" about Astrology -- or know something about your chart placements, that will help you get more from this material.

If you don't ... well, this is one place you can learn. We all have to start somewhere ... because we aren't born knowing this stuff. Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.

One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

Or, if you want to get serious and really talk about this, upvote this post and start a conversation in the comments section sometime in the next six days from the time of publication. We'll go from there depending on what you want to know.

Questions about any of this? -- Upvote this post and talk to me in comments. It's a terrific way to build value for yourself and the community ... and it will give me ideas of what to write about in future posts. Believe me there is lots to say about the way The Sun, The Moon -- and all the other elements in a horoscope, all the other components of Astrology -- work together to interpret you and your story -- and what it all means to the person you've become.

This is who I am.

About the art in our visual essays ...

Although sometimes the background pictures in our visual essays support the topic and text, they don't always. Sometimes the connection is clear. Sometimes it's symbolic and subtle. Sometimes, there's no connection at all.

The scenes depict landscapes and natural features, buildings and wildlife. They were chosen because they show something lovely or interesting ... or simply because the photo appealed to me.

Our spectacular and remarkable planet is changing at astonishing speed. Rarely are these changes for the better. Few people seem to know ... or care ... or have the will and power to do anything about this. It may not be long before the world humans have known and lived in for centuries is forever lost. We certainly won't be able to make repairs as fast as we destroyed it.

So a few years ago I began collecting pictures of the way things were ... and still are for now, a record of the beauty we have while it is still ours to love and honor.

The photos here are part of that collection, with sincere thanks to the artists who saw these moments ... and with their cameras ... preserved them. All of us at Enchanted Spirit are profoundly grateful to them for their generosity and skill ... and for the added grace, depth and dimension their art brings to ours.

Yaay, Aries time! :) My mom is Aries and since Aries time is when Nature begins to wake up from the winter sleep, this is always a time of joy for me. Pushing through and making things different, not just observing them.

Loved the imagery you chose to go along with your writing. I'm so excited for spring to finally get here!
I've never really gotten deeply into astrology, but always been fascinated by it. I'm a cancer and really relate to what I've read about them so far, I look forward to your article on them!
Take care ♡

Very interesting! I can't wait to read about Leo :D
