🎨 YGGDRASIL
YGGDRASIL
acrylic on canvas - 2019 - 60 x 90 cm
This is a revival of a old 1981 color pencil sketch I found in my slide files. I decided to take the idea from it in a new rendering. It shows Nidhogg the dragon chewing on the roots of Yggdrasil, the world tree. The rendering of the dragon is deliberately ambiguous: it appears as if one of the roots of Yggdrasil are possibly also his own tail.

What I like about this one is that it looks like two paintings in one. It does look like two separate entities but yet they both fit each other perfectly.
It's another great work of yours. I actually haven't seen anything from you what I wouldn't like :)
Thank you for sharing and have a lovely day!
Thanks!
Cool geworden! Das bist Du :-D
Danke Dir - ja, da bin ich, im Baum ......

thank you, I am honored!
ehy dear @thermoplastic, amzing drawing! the "construction" of this work of yours seems to me very complex, probably full of symbols and metaphors that we naive do not know! like this dragon that wants to eat the tree of life, where, however, its tail is a root: do you want to tell us that life and death are an infinite circle that reproduces itself? I love your post and your beautiful photos, congratulations! Keep on :-))
Thanks - well, something like that. We are all one and part of creation, even the dragon and the tree, so trying to destroy it by chewing its roots, he is injuring himself. But also, each of us have our own personal archetypes we bring into interpreting, so anyone's view has validity - I don't want to force people into one narrow Interpretation.
yes, art has subjective interpretations, but I find it interesting to know what drives an artist to a certain creation. I imagine that the artist, with his works, expresses some messages and cares about whether they arrive, or not?
to some extend, yes, but I like for people to make up their own mind. As long as they think and don't just walk by.
Beautiful your work of art, I give you my thousands of applause because you are excellent painting, congratulations!
thank you
