Sister superior, A scratchbuilt Inquisitor model.

in #art6 years ago

Another installment in my hand sculpted - home casted miniature series.

This Miniature, like some of the heads from last post, is for an Inquisitor model. It is a sister of battle , which are basically female space marines. I always liked them alot, because female warriors in powered armour is totally badass.

I sculpted this miniature specifically for casting. At the time I had great plans about starting a miniatures company, and i wanted to use these figures as a training platform and a way to fine tune the design and casting pipeline. I usually made a finished one-piece sculpt then cut it up and re-sculpted the seems for casting. Sometimes, as with this one, the arms and head was separate from the beginning.

The company never did become a reality, at least not in the form I had originally thought it would, but I did sell a few miniatures.

One of the main problems was that I could not make miniatures specifically for games workshop games, as their policy has always been to sue everybody to hell first and ask questions after. The market for other miniatures unfortunately wasn't very big at the time, and I already had multiple other projects going on, so I mostly ended up doing models for myself and friends

I did make quite a few models and sold a few also, but I was never a great businessman , and anyway that part of it never had my interest. I still have the molds somewhere though so maybe one day :-)

love this! do you have any warhammer fantasy era ones? or medieval stuff? I would order some with SBD! I run a kids roleplaying club and it would be nice to add some new figures....hell, if you get the urge to design some new miniatures, LET ME KNOW! :)

Thanks. Yes I have some, and I will post about them when I get some pictures of them. I am also making new ones although not as often as I would like. I would definitely like to sell some of them here for sbd. I will be sure to keep you in the loop.

awesome! Have you heard of @steembay? You can auction stuff there for SBD, I will definitely bid for at least one! And if you ever feel lost for inspiration, I would kill for for a heroic Myconid figurine.....

Hi I will definitely check it out. The Myconid idea is really cool. I have to admit I had to look up what a myconid was. Its been a while since I played D&D. However, I have already made a first sketch of a myconid head in 3d Thanks for the idea. I hope it will become a figurine at some point. if it does, I will be sure to post it to @steembay.

and I will be sure to bid :) awesome. Im really excited for it!

I just remembered there is a small shop in Enschede, The Netherlands called Warhammer (https://www.games-workshop.com/en-NL/Warhammer-Enschede). Could be part of a chain, I don't know, I only know them because the best painter/airbrush guy for models I know works there. Anyway, I think they model and print themselves as well. Maybe you could cooperate with them? Or steal commercial clues?

Yes that is actually a games workshop - shop. I think the company changed name to warhammer , at least the shops did. I dont come by Enschede often, but thanks for the heads up. if I ever do I will definitely try to find time for a visit.

the amazing art men congratulate follow now have a nice day
