Legend Of The Dragonfly Featuring The Zen Colouring Challenge #3 image provided by @magiccleatus!

This has been a busy few weeks, thusly I was unable to partake in the Zen Colouring Challenge being sponsored by @magiccleatus for week three. (If you have not seen it you should check it out! It's fun and well, Zen! :)

This past week, the image provided inspired me to do more than just color it in. It brought to mind a legend I had read about years ago. I immediately knew I wanted to recreate the image to represent the legend and so it would become more time consuming than I could manage for the purpose of the contest. It still served it's purpose for me in that I very much enjoyed adding life to the pattern! I was pretty sure it would not be completed in time for the challenge but better late than never! :) Enjoy!

The Dragonfly is said to have once been a Great Dragon.

Legend has it that the Great Dragon was very wise and held the power of illusion. Great Dragon was able to shapeshift into any form it wished.

Upon a dare by Coyote, Great Dragon was tricked into showing off it's magickal powers by changing into a Dragonfly. Because Great Dragon had misused it's powers Great Dragon Remained as The Dragonfly. The scales on the Dragonfly's wings remniscent of the scales it had when it was Great Dragon, the iridescent colors ever changing, reminding us of the realms where we knew great magick.

The Dragonfly is said to be a reminder for us that we ourselves posess great magic within us, and if things are not going well for us then we have bought into someone else'e illusions and forgotten our own power! :)
