โฏ๐๐๐ถ๐๐พ๐ธ ๐ Tuscan Blue Rosemary ๐ (๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ โ๐๐ฃ๐๐ค)
Aside from the more well known culinary uses of Rosemary this herb has been used as a curative and magickal herb since ancient times! Believed by some to have been first cultivated in 13th century Spain, it also became very popular in many other countries including France and England for it's many uses.
The lore surrounding this plant has prompted it's use at both weddings and funerals. Anne of Cleaves is said to have used it in her wedding wreath. It has been used by various cultures to ward off evil. Folklore suggest that sleeping with the leaves under your bed keeps bad dreams at bay.
Rosemary has in the past, as well as today, been used to increase mental function and memory. Just smelling this plant has an uplifting effect on one's mood. With good reason, as it has been found to increase bloodflow to the brain!
(Disclaimer: I am not a DR. so, as always do your own research before choosing your own health care regimen!)
Some reported health benefits of Rosemary:
Increased blood flow to the brain.
Helps Memory formation, by prevention of the breakdown of the neurotransmitter Acetylcholine.
Can help prevention of heart disease, heart attack and stroke, by reducing plaque build up.
By blocking an active form of testosterone known as dihydrotestosterone from binding to androgen receptor sites, in cases of excess testosterone production in the body, Rosemary is said to boost hair growth, and promote regrowth of hair that has been lost due to an overproduction of testosterone.
May help to prevent and treat prostate cancer, as one of the plantโs compounds, carnosic acid has demonstrated the ability to selectively act against prostate cancer cells while leaving the healthy cells unharmed.
Reduces inflammation due to the fact that it contains many anti-inflammatory compounds.
Rosemary contains many compounds that have been found to improve digestion.
Rosemary when combined with other specific herbs has been found to have antiviral and antibacterial effects on flu and other infectious diseases.
You can purchase essential oil of Rosemary for use in oil diffusers, and burners. (I prefer the former, as heat tends to effect the medicinal properties of some plants in a degrative fashion.)
Aside from the plant's many uses with regard to humans, this plant is also good for use in caring for pets. It is said to be good for pain relief when used in natural care of pet chickens.

You can grow rosemary? Doesn't it die in your winters?
Mine did very well in a basic plastic greenhouse last winter, but this year I went outside Dec. 25th and found my gift was removing my greenhouse from being impaled upside down on a very large fence post almost in the road! So some of my plants are doing well after having been brought inside, but I don't think the Rosemary is doing so well and I am so sad about it!!! I am working on better greenhouse plans for this year!!! Truth be told I sort of knew that would probably happen becuse I just got too overloaded having to remodel the horse barn into chicken pens before the weather turned and I was a little lazy about where I put the greenhouse and didn't recess it into the ground!
Oh no!! Not a good surprise at all. I hope it will survive for you and things like that happen to me all the time. When you have lots of irons in the fire... hard to tend them all.
Basic herb in Italian cuisine :)
