Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the follow up to the Naruto Shippuden and Naruto Anime series. It is time to review the series up to now and see if the "reboot" lives up to the successful Naruto Legacy.

What's it about

The series stars Naruto's son Boruto and follows him on his adventures as he grows up in the Hidden Leaf village. Things are not easy for Boruto because his father is none other than the know famous hero and Kage (leader) Naruto, the man who ended the fourth Fourth Shinobi World War.
Naruto is beloved by all except by his son who views him as someone who is not fulfilling his duty as a father and husband.

Boruto feels that he is totally different from his father who grew up without parents and was shunned by the people of the village because of the nine tailed fox that is sealed inside of him.

A reboot?

Boruto has many similarities with the original Naruto series. The main character is a young boy coming of age. The main story revolves around our hero attending the Shinobi academy. The difference is that Naruto was driven to make something of himself and win the respect of the villagers and Boruto has no such ambitions.

We see a lot of offspring of the characters we came to love in Naruto/Naruto Shippuden. The sons and daughters physically resemble their parents but tend to have a different personality.

For me the Naruto Anime leading up to (and especially) the Chunin Exams contained my favorite episodes. So I am quite enjoying Boruto thus far.

Next Gen

It is fun to see our former heroes all grown up and having children of their own. It is also funny to see who our heroes ended up with, Naruto and Hinata, Sasuke and Sakura, Temari and Shikamaru.
Their children for the most part are very different from their parents however, although they seem to be as unruly as their parents were when they were growing up. The big difference is that these kids are now growing up in a peaceful world while their parents grew up in a world where the villages were at each other's throats and there was danger lurking everywhere.

Not all is well however, the Shinobi war has left its marks on the villagers especially Naruto and Sasuke and their children are paying for it. Naruto has a full-time job governing over the village as Kage and Sasuke is always away on some secret mission.

Boruto hardly gets to spend time with his father and when he does it is often a shadow clone and not the real Naruto. Sarada (Sasuke's daughter) can't even remember the last time she saw her father.
This has lead to Boruto blaming his father for letting his mother doing all the work at home. Sarada really misses her father being around and even starts to question if Sakura is her real mother (because of her uncanny resemblance to Karin, one of Sasuke's old teammates).

Is it good?

Until now the Anime is quite good. Because this is kind of a reboot, it starts of slow introducing us to all the new characters and their backgrounds (not unlike the original Naruto Anime). I expect that things will evolve in a similar way as they did in Naruto and we will get more info about the different teams as they form, slowly leading up to the Chunin Exams.

The series certainly has potential, the new characters all have interesting personalities and backgrounds (although I don't like what they did with Rock Lee's son). I especially like Boruto's character, in one way he is exactly like his father. He is a mischievous, curious kid who doesn't give up even faced with impossible odds. On the other hand he lacks the drive and ambition his father had, he does not want to become Kage and all he seems to care about is gaming, eating hamburgers and his friends.

The fact that his father is a famous hero and Kage of the village weighs heavy on him, a burden I think every child of a famous parent bears.

All in all it is going to be interesting to see where the Boruto Anime is headed but the way they handled this reboot is very promising.

I watch this only cuz i just wanna now what old characters are doing.

It's great to see the old characters all grown up but also like the new characters very much. It seems that the old characters still play an important part in the story, it will interesting to see how it develops.
