Meet Zus - My amazing 4 legged Wolf Dog Friend

in #animalphotography7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians,

Today I want you to Meet Zus (Zeus), my lovely Siberian Husky (mixed with some other breed, or perhaps a wolf :)) and my best four-legged friend.

Zus joined our family about 4 and a half years ago.

Me and my girlfriend just moved to a new place in a small town, with a nice yard and really wanted to get a dog.
We both really love animals and felt it was a great time to adopt a cute little puppy.

Personally I wanted a dog all of my childhood, but because my mom was awfully allergic to almost anything breathing or growing, while living in my parents house that was out of the question.
But my girlfriend had a Siberian Husky while growing up and really wanted to adopt one once again.

So on one of those days, while scrolling through the never ending facebook feed, she stumbled upon a little picture of a cute little puppy and a post, saying that he been left in stairways of a residential building, crying all night long and the nice guy that was posting took him into his home.

Zus at about 4 month old, you already can see that he is going to be a big fella

Apparently one of the families in the building, decided they want to buy a living toy, they liked the beautiful blue eyes but didn’t understand that there is still a spirit of a wolf inside, that a dog in general and especially dogs like that require attention, and have lots of energies that need to be addressed.

And the little pup, being in distress howled and cried for the whole night so they decided to put him outside of the house, in the stairways of the building, where he spent over 15 hours before the neighbor came back and took him into his house.

But living in a very small apartment with a whole family this guy could no longer keep him, and posted his picture on facebook, in hopes that a nice family will adopt him.

So after a short convincing on my girlfriends part, we decided to give him a call….just to be disappointed...somebody already picked him up, the guy said that it was a nice couple that got that dog for their two little kids.

So although we didnt get the dog, we were happy he has found a decent home.

It was only a few days later, friday very late at night, that we got a message from the same guy, the message roughly said “he was brought back to me, if you want him, you can come to pick him up right now”.

Only later we learned that the nice couple couldn't handle him as well, he was way too much for them, too energetic, too noisy, too hairy, so after a day or two of being locked in a small room they gave him away to another adoption they found on the internet, that also decided to bring him back after a day or two.
So he found his way back to the couple with the kids and then back to the neighbor and then we got the message.

I remember driving him back to our house, he was only 2 and a half month old and he already been to 4 homes, he was screaming and scratching all the way back, he was thin and you could see that he wasnt eating properly for a while.
We weren't sure what kind of adventure we throwing ourselves into, but we knew without a doubt that we will be his last home.

So four and a half years later, I present you my best four-legged friend...and although not without challenges, he grew up to be an awesome, happy, energetic and most importantly loving dog.

Hope you enjoy his photos :)

He loves nature

He often feels a bit too human :)

Hobby #1 : chasing cows and other animals, no matter the size

No words...

Fooling around...as always....;)

I want to take this opportunity and ask from everybody that might thinking about adopting, or perhaps even buying (please don't!) a “wolf breed” dog such as Zus, please only do so after a thorough research on the needs and demands of such dogs.

Due to a recent trend of such dogs on shows like “Game of Thrones”, they are becoming increasingly popular, but there is also a growing amount of owners that unable to cope with the demands for attention and exercise of such dogs, and thousands of dogs such as Huskies, Malamutes, and Sarloos are being abandoned every year worldwide.

So please don’t support breeders, DON'T BUY DOGS

And if you absolutely must have a “wolf dog”, make sure you are prepared to take care of it, to let it exercise every day, and have enough time on your hand to provide him with all the necessary attention and discipline he will no doubt require…
Otherwise be prepared to have a dog with destructive behavior, that will ruin your house and your life, and therefore you will not be able to take care of him, and therefore ruin his.

Thanks for taking the time to read,

@carpedimus

He is so adorable and sweet. :)

Thank you dear.
Yes he is...crazy, hyperactive, wild...but yeah, definitely adorable and sweet :)

He is gorgeous! Such a pro model <3
Thank you for rescuing him and for spreading the word!
I am so happy for you all to have found each other :)

Thank you very much Shlomit.

It is really awesome to have such a connection to a being from another species, we don't talk the same kind of language, but we communicate nevertheless..

So again thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it!

still learning how everything works here

That's a beautiful dog.

We used to own a husky. They're good dogs, sometimes a little stubborn, but good.

You are absolutly right.

They are stubborn as a mule, but such an amazing creature.

Thanks for taking the time to comment :)

Awwww. That's a nice thing to do. Good thing there are people like you who can take care of pets like that.

I'm not a dog lover anymore but I still find them adorable. I once was able to pet a husky. Omg it's so fluffeeeeh. hahaha.

Thank you, It was a real challenge in the beginning, but now i can really see my life without him around.

And ohh yeah they are so fluffy...every week or so we have to scrap 2 bag loads of fur from him just to keep the house in livable conditions :)

I not a big fan of pets, but yours seems more like a wolf. Soo cute, note to self if and when I get a pupppy support breeders, DON'T BUY DOGS

Thanks Kubby, yeah pets are not for everybody, I personally avoided them as well for most of my life...but once you get that connection, that bond, it feels really empty when he is not around.

Just to clarify :) you should not support breeders...I repeat YOU SHOULD NOT SUPPORT BREEDERS, it is a bad industry!

If you do decide to get your self a pup, just go to the nearest shelter you your home, or just open up facebook...there are so many adorable pets waiting to be adopted.

Thanks for the comment dear!

Oh I got it, breeders no, shelters 👍👍

What a good story brother, apart from the great advice and teaching that you leave at the end of the post, congratulations @carpedimus.

Thanks Freddy, I appreciate your feedback.
Not sure why you congratulate me though, but thanks brother...really happy to hear you like the story!
