Alphabet Art Challenge Day 15 – Origami Octopus

Alphabet Art Challenge Day 15

Presenting Origami Octopus, my first venture into the realm of artful paper folding! I managed to leave myself plenty of room for improvement on this one.
At least it's wearing a cute smile ☺

You're 'before' really cracked me up. And the room for improvement...so funny. And a really cool octopod. Can't believe you're already up to "o". Good job on the perseverance and great art.

Many thanks, as always! I had to laugh while I was making it...the first three attempts were so sad I didn't even want to take their picture. Yes, half the alphabet has gone by so quickly. Before I know it I'll have to find another one of these challenges. Glad you can join for the ride ☺

You never fail to entertain, on all levels, artistic and humor. Thanks for that. And have a great, creative time in inkville today.

Ahh it's so adorable XD LoL that before shot XD You do origami as well? Damn :D

goatsig

This little fella was a frustratingly fun challenge, and yet I foresee more paper folding in 2018. Perhaps a goat should be on the origami agenda?

If you feel like making a goat XD Do you have instructions for these things or are you inventing them? :O

goatsig

Little of both, looking at the foundations then altering as I see fit. I'll research the origami goat! We'll see what comes of it ☺

ha, I love the before shot! genius.

This is very impressive I like it how you're almost making your art "come to life" with this one. What I want to know is did you already know how to fold this in an origami type style or did you just kind of mess around with it until you got it how you wanted it?

Thanks! This is my first completed origami. The idea came to me last night before bed to make some kind of origami using paper I already had. I stared making them earlier today and it took me three attempts. I folded a catalog page, a glossy newspaper ad insert and a sheet of copy paper. None survived :c

Traditional origami paper probably works a lot better for folding! I still had fun with it, I like to switch things up sometimes ☺

What do you like to do when you venture away from your normal mediums into different crafts or hobbies??

I feel very confident no matter how many pieces of paper I used I wouldn't come even close to what you arrived at.

I don't think I really do any other "crafts" other than traditional art....I've always wanted to write something, like a novel, but I highly doubt that will ever happen; I do have an idea in my head for a graphic novel, which I think would suit me a lot more since, you know, art. I do generally like reading, I am currently at the very end of War and Peace - that is a doosy of a book let me tell you. Only for the very dedicated, ha. I usually read stuff like "wheel of time" which is much more fast(er) paced fiction and so it was a bit jarring switching to the very, very slow paced W&P, but that being said, it is an amazing read if you can get past the first 25% where all the names and nicknames are extremely confusing. But I digress...

My other hobbies are mostly just playing sports - basketball, kickball, softball; the older I get the more glad I am that I really enjoy those things to help keep me in shape because I don't do any exercise outside of those things!
How about you? What do you do when you're not working your way through the ABC's?

I also like to read, just started on How to Develop Self-Confidence and Influence People by Public Speaking by Dale Carnegie. For physical activity I walk or jog almost every day plus a few stretching/strength exercises. I also like to experiment with more nutritious options in the kitchen. Right now I'm in a preparation phase...I've been focusing on improving my physical, mental and spiritual health.

Getting through the second half of my twenties was really challenging. Now that I've accepted and processed those difficult events and circumstances, I'm getting myself ready to climb up to the next level. These steemit challenges help me stay structured and focused!

Nice, origami for the win! Do you have a book?

Not yet! I am very interested in folding more paper, further research and testing has been scheduled ☺

I know there's a great star wars origami book, which comes with special papers for making things look star wars-y :)

That sounds like a fun weekend!! Thanks for letting me know ☺

Funny little fella, especially when it waves like that. So far so good on the challenge, awesome!

Thanks! I had fun doing something a little different for "O" :D
