Just Keep Swimming With These 10 Fun Facts About Finding Dory (2016)
Hi movie marauders! Finding Dory was released June 17, 2016, and got a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. It is the sequel to Finding Nemo, which came out in 2003. I thought that Finding Dory had a great plot, and was very funny. I love ELeen DeGeneres as Dory. Also, baby Dory was the most adorable fish ever. Finding Dory grossed $1 billion at the box office, a little bit more than Finding Nemo ($940 million). Pixar just keeps shelling out amazing animated tales, and I am hoping that a 3rd Finding Nemo movie is released. Let's take a look at some awesome fun facts about Finding Dory!!
1. Hank was originally going to have 8 tentacles, but animators could only fit 7 on his body. They had to rewrite his backstory about why he only has 7 tentacles.
2. The Pizza Planet truck can be seen when Marlin, Dory, and Nemo meet the Giant Squid, and is seen passing by the truck headed to Cleveland. A1 and 13 can be seen on the tags on the sea lions Fluke and Rudder (reference to the classroom A113 at Cal Arts that most Pixar Animators went to).
3. A photo of Darla can be seen during Dory's first visit to the quarantine facility.
4. This is the 3rd Pixar movie to have a female lead (the other 2 are Brave and Inside Out).
5. Even though this movie is titled Finding Dory and they are actually searching for Dory's parents, the title refers to Dory finding herself.
6. By the Open Ocean Exhibit in the Marine Life Institute, there are models of Squirt and Crush from Finding Nemo.
7. Originally the setting was going to be an aquatic park, but it was changed to a Marine Life Institute after the crew of Pixar watched the disputable documentary Blackfish.
8. The voice at the Marine Institute is in fact Sigourney Weaver. This is her 2nd role in a Pixar movie, her first being the voice of the main computer of the ship Axiom in WALL-E.
9. Finding Dory was originally going to be released November 25, 2015, but was changed because The Good Dinosaur was pushed back to this date.
10. Riley (from Inside Out) can be seen when Dory is thrown into Destiny's tank (Dory hits the window). Riley is one of the children at the viewing window.
