👉 Discovering Italy | The Paradox of the Sammezzano Castle: Loved but Abandoned to Itself

The story of a unique building, with its orientalist style. It is now among the 12 "endangered" sites.
The castle is a marvelous orientalist structure unique in its kind, which is dying of an all-Italian paradox: the world recognizes it as a cultural building of extraordinary beauty and we, for almost thirty years, have been leaving it to itself towards a "endless decay"
The history of this Tuscan structure surrounded by a wonderful park in the area of Leccio (in Reggello, Florence) that hosted Italy's king, films, fiction and thousands of authorities when it was a hotel (until the nineties), today it is blocked by an infinite stall in search of a buyer.
In May 2017 the Arabs of the Dubai-based company Helitrope Limited won the Castle by depositing a first check for 1.5 million. The other company concerned, Kairos Srl, appealed for irregularities and the ordinary judge of the Court of Florence accepted it, canceling the assignment to the Arabs.
At this point with the Kairos willing to buy and already engaged in restoration work, everything seemed to proceed for a new beginning. However, due to a bankruptcy trustee and bureaucracy, the works for the rebirth of the castle were interrupted again.
The preservation of the beauty of this seventeenth-century castle, an eclectic Moorish-style building with the magnificent "Sala dei Gigli" and the "Sala dei Pavoni", is now in the hands of hope.
