Tempted to use STEEMIT in sharing new discoveries

Hi STEEMIT friends! Mary Chris here! You can also call me MC for short. I’m a nerdy chemical engineer who loves to travel, read books, watch movies and take selfies.

I'm 26 years old (though others seem to doubt that when they first see me) and still happily discovering myself. You're right! There are still a lot of things that I think I don't know that I might know. Confusing? Like from the song in Beauty and the Beast movie, "There may be something there that wasn't there before". I might have some interests or talents that I wouldn't know if I wouldn't try, right? Through STEEMIT, I can share my new discoveries and in this way I could meet new people who have similar interests as I have.

The genre of movies that I love include thrillers (I hold Japanese and Thai horror movies in high regard), romcoms and sci-fi. I recently watched all sequels of Starwars and I was amazed on how technology of film effects have evolved through time. I am also fond of watching TV series like Game of Thrones, CSI and Korean dramas.

Book reading is also one of my hobbies. I read any book genre but I mostly focus on classics and non-fictions. Reading really tickles my imagination especially when the author is so good at describing the scene. Sometimes I could not stop reading for hours! I also like reading short stories, especially those with ironic endings. I could never forget the story Gift of Magi by O. Henry. It is about a young married couple who challenged themselves to buy each other secret gifts for Christmas. The husband sold his gold pocket watch to buy his wife a set of combs, while his wife sold her hair to buy him a present, a golden chain for a pocket watch. Isn't it ironic?

Other than self-discovery (and to hopefully earn at the same time), I will be using steemit to hone my writing skills. When I was in high school, I have been writing the Feature section of our school paper. If I was able to do it before, why not now? Ever since, I was already fond of writing. As a self-confessed introvert, writing has been an outlet for expressing myself, where normally I could not do through talking. Some might think of me as a secretive or "mysterious" type. When I meet the people for the first time, I can't handle sharing everything to them. The more people involved, the more shy I get. However, I’m gradually getting rid of that shyness as I grow older. I talk with people I meet and share with them some ideas or thoughts. It becomes easier for me to start a conversation than before, but I still need more practice though.

From time to time, I will be writing in STEEMIT some random thoughts. I could share my opinions on recent issues. It is fulfilling that we practice our freedom of speech, but we should be responsible of this freedom and be sensitive of the impact of what we say.

Sometimes, I will be sharing travel and food discoveries (mostly I will be doing it with my boyfie - my official photographer). Majority of my travel blogs will be from my hometown Cebu, Philippines (With more savings, hopefully I could explore more than my place!). For others who do not know the Philippines yet, I will let them see its unraveled beauty. Since it is a tropical country, expect a lot of blue and green hues in my pictures.

Being a chemical engineer, I will be sharing nerdy stuff like scientific discoveries, trivias or just some new helpful apps. Currently, I'm working in a flour manufacturing industry wherein I handle investigations on customer complaints and non-conforming products (like CSI for products). This job is challenging, since you need to thoroughly look at things in different perspectives for you to create a clearer picture of the root cause of the problem.
