"Romeo & Juliet."
Romeo and Juliet live in the neighbourhood. These two love birds come visiting every now and then. They sit and enjoy the sea view from my balcony, have a chat, fly around and generally give me the impression that all is well with the pair of them. They confirmed these impressions on their last visit when Romeo made his intentions very clear.
The afternoon started off as it usually does, with Romeo and Juliet taking in the views and flitting from one part of the balcony to the other.
And then all was quiet for a while as they decided to have a snooze.
When Romeo woke up he edged his way closer to Juliet and told her how beautiful she looked.
It was obvious to all casual observers (such as myself) that he was in the mood for romance and as Juliet didn't rebuff him, he decided he'd do a bit of preening in the hope that he would get a similar compliment from his feathered lover.
Juliet waited patiently whilst Romeo spruced himself up.
Then Romeo went back to Juliet and proceeded to flatter her outrageously.
She tried to push him away but I could tell she was just toying with him, (as female lorikeet's are inclined to do.)
She then pretended to be shy and buried her head in her chest feathers........with one eye on Romeo to make sure he was still admiring her.
She shouldn't have worried, because Romeo was going nowhere! Neither was Juliet.
And before I could say, "Get a Room!" Romeo and Juliet were in a world of their own; lost in a frenzy of feathers............and the rest is history.

Oh yes.......there will be plenty of lorikeets around that area @betterthanhome How are your Aussie house sits going? It sounds as though you have chosen the best time to visit Queensland now that the welcome rain has doused a lot of the fires that were burning out of control further north.

Omg Trudee!!! They are so cute. And the love story we witnessed is so funny. I bet Shakespeare would be very sad for not thinking of this theatrical staging of his opera. 😂
I will never be able to read "Romeo and Juliet" without the "feathery frenzy" image in my mind. 😂
Haha.....I'm sure Shakespeare could have woven a very entertaining story around these two @roxy-cat He would have had them singing opera as well, no doubt. Now, why didn't I think of that?
Thinking about Shakespeare is easy for me as my first English teacher used to read his poems and operas to me. I could barely write but I could recite like a million verses. And the funny thing was she was always changing the end. For example, Romeo and Juliet married and lived a happy life. 🙂
Woah those are really colorful visitors! What a treat to have them right on your balcony!
They are indeed @carlnash Its always a treat to receive such important visitors to our balcony and we also have very musical magpies who love to visit. Thank you for dropping by. Much appreciated.
😄 You made my day - I will be smiling every time I recall Romeo and Juliet. That is so sweet to see the romance between the two birdies and great photos!
Aww, thank you so much Neli these colourful birds are so entertaining. I love them.
You are lucky to have them visiting you. 😀
I really am Neli. It is one of the perks with living in Queensland.
