Crazy Profitable Thrifting Flips You Won't Believe - $55 Spent On 7 Items I Sold For $3,538 - DIY Thrifting For Income

in #diy5 years ago (edited)

Check out some insane thrifting snipes I found over the years that had enormous margins.

My usual buying zone is $5-$25 to resell in $50-$300 zone. I have endless examples I can show over time. Literally enough to bring the blockchain down, which is why I hope people will pay attention and start learning the game to expedite their financial freedom.

I'll keep sharing my experience if you let me know you like this stuff. I don't thrift much these days in lieu of upcycling, but could get motivated to start hustling again if some fans get me going. I have thousands upon thousands of sales that can be quite educational.

Extreme Profitability!

Bought for $11.76, sold for $1,010 (85.9x).

(A rare Japanese model of a dual minidisc/CD player in pristine condition, sold to a man who was undergoing cancer treatment that always wanted one.)

Bought for $1.28, sold for $400 (312.5x).

(Talking action figure promo at the time the film was nominated for awards.)

Bought for $16.32, sold for a few miles away for $715 (43.8x).

Bought for $10.88, sold for $585 (54x).

NIOB check scanner bought for $9.5, sold for $380 (40x).

(Can't find my original image so I took this from online.)

Super rare remote bought for $2.17, sold to Russia for $175 (80.6x).

New TaylorMade golf driver/wood set bought for $3.03, sold for $304 (100.3x).

That's a good teaser for now.

The main point is that there's money all around us in the form of retail arbitrage or upcycling. Even part-time, you can make a large impact on your finances and have a lot of fun.

Thrifting > Revenue > Invest In Crypto.

More to follow. Ask any questions.

Thanks for your interest,

Congratulations, your post has been selected to be included in my weekly Sustainability Curation Digest for the Minnow Support Project.

I'm living it now! No J-O-B for me anymore, just reselling. :D

I remember you said this was in the cards, but wasn't sure if it'd still happen. Welcome to the club and a healthier lifestyle. It might be tough at times*, but it's a billion times easier to work extra hard when it's strictly for your own growth and pride. Keep me posted. I could use a kick in the ass at times to keep my eyes on the prize too.

*Or it might be the most natural and easiest type of "work" that'll never seem like work.

My last day of work was the 25th of January. I've been studying for college tests and haven't put much effort into reselling, but still have $1,647 in sales for that tiny effort.

Pretty good line of work if you do ask me. :D

You seem to have got this down to a fine art, some very good returns here. I try and eBay off anything of value once it isn’t needed, it can be time consuming but it’s nice to know people will be able to get benefit from something I no longer use.

You have the right mindset if it's not for $. Almost everything can be repurposed in some way!

In reality, these are just some prime flips here which stand out as me being a guru. While I have it down to an art, it's not always this great.

eBay is most efficient if you have a little workflow station and shipping supplies handy with a scale. Outside of the initial listing creation from your phone, the rest is simply waiting for your items to sell (unless you prefer auctions). I almost always do Buy It Now. Then again, I see you have at least one infant, so all logic on free time to do anything immediately goes out the window!

hot dog thats brilliant. I found this post via the @helpie shill by @blewitt

Thanks for stopping by. I mostly upcycle these days as I feel better about helping the environment, but thrifting is a great thrill. I know you're passionate about reporting, so you'd appreciate that I've logged every single purchase and recycled find ever with all costs and fees associated to tell a pretty cool story with the numbers.

I'm not sure about @blewitt's helpie shill, but I'm going to have to go reprimand him for going out of his way to be nice.

hahah im an accountant, im glad to hear you have it all recorded :-) love it

Something very interesting....but main thing is to get hold of such things....you just refurbished them by own?

Most of the things I get at thrift stores are brand new or in perfect shape. If they have issues, I usually don't buy them. I definitely refurbish items I upcycle/recycle (seen on my other types of resale posts), but thrifting is usually just about taking it home, removing a little dust, and listing it to sell.

Wow...make sense...and pretty good way to make money. Love the ideology and hope to get my own in India, if get something.

That is a fantastic haul !!!

They will be making songs about you soon Matt.

I do IT work and I have access to bunch of check scanners and hand barcode scanners and such.
Where should I go to sell these?

eBay all the way. If you're able to sell them, it's important to validate that they're fully tested - or else it's best to sell them as is for parts/repair to be safe with customer expectations (at a discount with no returns). Simply look up the model numbers on eBay and then filter by recently sold/completed items to see what they're moving for. If there are a lot, you'll have to decide whether you want to list them individually (make more $), or as lots (faster to move for less). Check to see if you can track down any software or install disks for them too to complete the sets.

Hustle that hustle!
