This is my entry for steemitworldmap-2019 contest.
I joined the Steemit blockchain in April of 2019, and in time got acquainted with its features, rules, places, hunting grounds, best people and best challenges... to some slender extent, of course. Therefore I cannot state I have a long relationship with
@steemitworld or
@travelfeed. As you may know, light things are the first to come ashore, so I usually take a lot of time to share my stuff...

@travelfeed. Как известно, легкие вещи первыми доплывают до берега, поэтому я обычно не тороплюсь выкладывать материал... можно даже сказать, что я откровенно торможу!
As you may notice, the post numbers differ... Russian wastelands and their treasures arent represented on the map as well, as the southern Europe. I will be working on this in the next decade.
В прош.году я добавил на карту 12 постов, 11 из них про Петербург - город, где я живу (я много не путешествую). Глядя на них, ясно что это скорее работа фото-художника, чем репортера (отсюда и заголовок: "фото впечатления"). По условию конкурса нужно выбрать 4 лучших, и я постарался выбрать в меньшей степени "впечатления", а больше "истории".
In 2019, I added 12 posts to steemitworldmap. 11 of them are dedicated to St. Petersburg - the city in which I live (because I do not travel much). Looking at them, it is clear that I approach writing posts more as an artist than a reporter; that's why I called my post "photo impressions." That is why I tried to choose posts that are less "impressed" and more valuable as "informative reports."
Тот вечер - одно из лучших фото-событий, бывших у меня в прошлом году. Говорят: "легко пришло -- дешево ценится". В данном случае, как раз наоборот. Некрополь Новодевичьего Монастыря -- весьма интересное место, стоящее посещения, и я советую для его осмотра выделить целый день. Сто лет назад самое дорогое и престижное столичное кладбище, где хоронили элиту империи, оно могло похвастаться роскошными постройками и декором. За прошедшее столетие место пострадало от вандалов и политики городских властей. В 2007-м году я гулял здесь, оснащенный 50-мм объективом, снимая в основном близкие виды. Я остался доволен всего парой кадров, и с тех пор мечтал вернуться, оснащенный чем-нибудь более широкоугольным.
I did not think a lot here: impressions of that evening are among my best photo events thru the last year (and the Ladoga skerries, ofc). They say, "what has come easily - dont appreciated too much"; this is right the opposite case. I value this session a lot, due to a lot of efforts were invested. The Novodevitchii Monastery Necropolis (located at Moskovsky ave, St.Petersburg) is a great place to visit. 100 years ago it was the most expensive / prestigious cemetery in the city, all the elite have been buried here, and thats why it had rich housing and decor... in the past. Over the past century, the place has suffered from vandals and city authorities' policy. Back in 2007 I shot it for the 1st time, but I mostly took close-ups, as I was equipped with 50-mm lens. I was happy only with a few shots, since then I considered a come-back, having smth more wide-angle in my pocket.
В 2019 мой арсенал увеличился на 2 прекрасных объектива: Canon 16-35мм, и мануальный фишай Zenitar 16mm. Весь октябрь я ждал подходящей солнечной погоды, желая снять местные виды "в золотой листве". Увы, мы не совпали. В конце ноября в один из солнечных дней я махнул рукой, провожая ушедшую осень, вооружился тремя объективами, сел и поехал снимать "что есть". Сначала я испробовал 16-35мм,но световой день так внезапно кончился, что я мало что успел снять.
In 2019, I acquired two excellent lenses suitable for this task: Canon 16-35mm, and the Soviet manual fisheye Zenitar 16mm. All of October I was waiting for a weekend of sunny weather to photograph the views of the cemetery in a "golden autumn" decorations. Alas, we did not match. By the end of November, there happened one more or less sunny day, I sighed, said "good bye!" to the autumn have passed, equipped myself with three lenses, and went off to the location. At first I tried 16-35mm, but the daylight ended so quickly that I havent shot too much.
На следующий день я повторил визит, на этот раз используя фишай. (Это была моя третья большая сессия "с рыбьим глазом". Он дает интересные результаты, более художественные, нежели репортажные. С ним интересно работать, "строить кадры", малейшее изменение позиции многое меняет... даже не хочется менять его на что-то другое, когда он уже стоит на камере). Мне очень понравились полученные снимки, и я с гордостью выделяю этот пост на steemit-карте. Как обычно, я опубликовал только часть материала, остальное вылеживается и ждет более внятного поста.
The next day I repeated my visit to the, now equipped with the manual fish-eye lens. (This was my third “big session” with this lens; it gives interesting results - more artsy than reportage - and what is especially interesting about it, is building the frames. I don’t even want to change it for anything else when it’s already mounted to the camera. I really liked how the photos turned out. I am proud to highlight this post on steemitworldmap and invite you to see it. As usual, I published just a small part of the material, the rest is maturing... demanding post-processing and more distinct info and details to be added.
I have to add so much to this point on the map. Part two will follow! (Which is also the part of the reason why I chose this post). PS. Why frost / night cycling / Humphrey Bogart? Check the initial post if you'd like to find out.
Ok, this one is more of the reportage type. It displays a little location at my city's map that represents a non-parade, non-fashionable part of it. Some industrial non-inhabited abandoned territory right at the historical center of the city -- isnt it amazing?
Почему я выбрал этот пост -- потому что он интересный, и особенный! Все знают интересные места для посещения, которые сто раз описаны в туристских гайдах. "Другая сторона" города, остаётся неизвестной... Для читателей, это шанс узнать Петербург с другой стороны. И таких мест (в каждом городе) остается все меньше, поступь истории (якобы это называется словом "прогресс"?) давит и сметает их с карты (увы). Старые пакгаузы, портовые сооружения, бездействующие ржавые краны, кирпичная пром. архитектура XIX века -- все это исчезающая редкость, и чем меньше осталось, тем она ценнее. Это наше прошлое (и оно не хуже, я бы сказал даже лучше, чем пластиковое- гипсокартонное настоящее).
Why did I choose this post? because it is interesting and so special. Everyone knows "places of interest" to visit, which are described in a hundred tourist guides. The "other side" of the city remains unknown ... For readers (and possible St.Petersburg tourists) this is a chance to esplore the city from the other side. And there are less and less such places (in any city), the tread of history (supposedly called the word "progress", huh?) crushes and sweeps them off the map (alas). Old warehouses, port facilities, rusty inactive cranes, brick industrial architecture of the 19th century - all this is already a vanishing rarity, and the less is left, the more valuable it is. This is our past (and it is not worse, I would say it is even better than our plastic-plasterboarded present).
Это было не путешествие, во всяком случае, не географическое. Мой пост предлагает оценить красоты стеклянной новогодней игрушки. В конце декабря я посетил новогоднюю ярмарку, где не мог остановиться, фотографируя массу замечательных вещей, которые могут помочь весело отпраздновать этот праздник. Мои фото рыбных и мясных роскошей еще ждут публикации, но новогодние игрушки я опубликовал на следующий же день. Просто это чудесный материал, который не каждый день увидишь в местном магазине... я был очарован многообразием сюжетов, форм и отделкой. Вот почему я выбрал этот пост: хочется делиться и еще раз делиться, чтобы больше людей увидели это.
This post was lesser a travel, at least not a geographical one. (Remember John Lennon's quote? you can see the whole world without leaving home, meditating). Here I invited all steemiand to appreciate the beauty of a traditional Russian New Year's toys (decorations for the Christmas tree). At the end of December I visited the central New Year's fair, where I spent two days (!) photographing tonns of various stuff that intended to help celebrating the Merry days. My photos of fish and meat luxuries are still awaiting publication, but the New Year's toys I've shared the very next day. It’s such a wonderful stuff that you won’t see every day at the local store ... I was fascinated by the variety of plots and forms and decorations, with its beauty. I easily chose this story as one of the 'year's best results': I want to share it again and again, so that more people could see it.
You cant fit unfittable and put all you want into your post, but I added some info about the toys manufacturers and the links to their online shops; this way I believe it will be more useful.

Well, 1st of all, I wanted to dilute three of my native city posts with something more related to travelling and sight-seeing. And secondly, I consider my Ladoga lake experience to be such magical and brilliant that I really want to share it more and more, again and again. It is my best memories and very cool photos -- I am still hoarding tonns of them, a-waiting till I shape them into proper posts.
I do not want to retell the original post... To be brief: every summer we venture a weekly boat travel around the Ladoga skerries. Last 5-6 times it was a solid team of 15-20 members, often with their children.. This time there were 6 little members in the team, including my babygirl. It is a lot of fun to play with children, you know. And we played this 'build-your-own-pyramid' game at one of the islands... you may call it 'leave your mark in history'... Anyway. I always try to teach children around me different things; be constructive, creative, fruitful (instead of being destructive) is one of them.

я вообще не в курсе о таком) в чем фишка? пост добавят на карту и...все? надо пометить на карте место, где ты был и показать его фотки или шо?)
о! вообще это хорошая штука, по смыслу. (не обязательно же все оценивать как в Одессе: а что я с этого буду иметь?..)
если зайти по ссылке вверху поста - видите только мои посты, которые я нанёс на мировую карту.
а если зайти на steemitworldmap.com - то увидете все посты по всему миру. (ну, все, которые были нанесены на карту). таким образом например можно увидеть, кто / что / когда писал про Крым... обнаружить новые / старые интересные локации возле себя, познакомиться с другими стимианцами. ну, масса приятных вытекающих последствий на самом деле - если подходить со стороны контента.
со стороны moneymaking - пост получает некоторый ап, и отличные посты помещаются в дайджест, что повышает видипость поста и опять таки способствует апвоутам.
ну, я бы не так сказал... если так, то карта быстро будет захламлена всяким-яким... :) по мне если есть какое-то интересное место и ты про него рассказываешь пост, и оно СТОИТ того чтобы нанести его на карту - то можно это сделать, и оно будет полезно всем остальным. (но кстати: твоё дело - застолбить заявку, а уж примут ее и нанесут или нет, это решит "принимающая сторона").
еще одна такая же фишка есть, если оформлять посты через travelfeed.io - там есть требования все на английском + 250 слов минимум... ну и еще по мелочам... тоже пост получается наносится на карту.
для каких-то (ясное дело, не всяких) постов - очень не лишнее. кмк.

Last time I tried using the steemworldmap tool, I couldn't get it to work, so I sort of gave up. I need to try it again as I often have travel pictures/posts.

also, there is another option out there - travelfeed.io map.
both suggest sufficient amount of markers on the map -- its very intresting to have a look what has been around. this way I am founding very old blogs from, say, 2017! one of the things I love most. sort of a modern archeology :P
