Bricks Everywhere…
Why are bricks always used for flat structures or ordinary walls? So boring ... a tunnel is much more fun ...

Building material is always a function of material which is available near the location in which you are building. The most common material was dirt and wood. It did not take long to learn that dirt could be mixed with other compounds to create bricks through placing them in heated chambers to make durable building material.....Not much of a deterrent to earthquakes, but have held up reasonable well though time.

Super photo. I’ve always been fascinated with physics of bricks held in an arch and how even very old arched structures continue to stand throughout history.
