STEEM-POCALYPSE SURVIVAL GAME SEASON 5 - DAY 1 ROUND 2 - 50 SBD Prize Pool So Far
Are players starting to die already?
Please be fully aware that this is an elimination game where only the players that are already signed up can participate. Anyone not already signed up that is interesting in playing must wait until Season 6 to do so.
To help @papa-pepper run this game, please DO NOT reply if you are not already playing this game. If you are playing this game, please do not reply to this post either, reply to my comment below that contains the option that you want to pick. I will provide a separate comment for each option given. If players do not reply to an Option Comment, they will be eliminated. Thank you. Play by the rules and live to play another day (as long as you don't die).
Please also make sure to reply to the Option Comment below. For each option provided, I will make a reply to my own post. Players should find the reply of the option that they wish to choose and reply to that comment. This will also help streamline gameplay as we move forward. Players should also mention any items that they have found replying to avaid losing them.
DAY 1 ROUND 1 RESULTS
Soon, enough, this will begin to our most bloody and brutal season so far. The players will be easy targets during the daylight hours and things are getting very violent at night. In the last round they began to make their moves. let's see how it has worked out so far.
OPTION 1 - Get down to the street and get moving as quickly as possible.
The players that chose this option made it safely down to the street level. They have not found any items yet, but they are still alive and will begin gameplay in this round from the street.
OPTION 2 - Get down to the main floor, search it a bit, and then get moving as quickly as possible.
The players who chose option risked a little more time, but it paid off for them. In a room on the main floor, they found something that could be useful in the future.
While "tossing" a room, they came upon a Magnesium Firestarter. Players who chose Option 2 last round should reply to their choice today and mention "Firestarter" to avoid losing it. These players have also now made it down to the street.
OPTION 3 - Search the floor that you are on and then get down to the street and get moving as quickly as possible.
The players who chose Option 3 checked the floor that they were on before making their way outside. Down the hall, they found something of potential use.
It happens to be unloaded at the moment, but they still have a pistol. Players who chose Option 3 last round should reply to their choice today and mention "Pistol" to avoid losing it. These players have also now made it down to the street.
DAY 1 ROUND 2 SCENARIO
The players find themselves on the dimming streets down below. The sun is setting, but things feel like they are about to heat up rather than cool off. Before too many violent survivors come out, the players should try to make their way towards the edge of town.
Slowly and cautiously, they make their way. It is getting dark rather quickly and a few distant gunshots have already been heard. At an intersection, the players notice something interesting.
Off to one side, a beat up looking truck is parked in the bushes. The likelihood that it runs is slim. Still, it may be worth checking out. There may even be something valuable in it.
Off to the other side is a much nicer looking car. This one may be worth checking out too. However, it may be best not too spend too much time searching vehicles.
Perhaps it is best to just keep moving. The temptation to search is pulling on the players though. Some are even thinking of taking the riskiest move of all and searching both vehicles....
OPTIONS
Options are limited this round. Things are rapidly progressing and decisions should be made with caution, so always choose carefully.

* OPTION 2 - Try to check the nicer looking car for anything valuable before moving on.
* OPTION 3 - Try to check both vehicles before moving on.
* OPTION 4 - Try to just move on without checking any vehicle.

Each player must reply to the my comment below containing the Option that they wish to choose within the next 24 hours. Any players who do not reply in time will be eliminated from gameplay and have to wait until Season 6 to try again.
Also, if your player has found anything, you must mention it when you reply or you will lose it. If your player found a pistol, then reply with something like the following:

Day 16
Dear Diary,
I left my room today. It was a huge pain getting those boards off but I finally managed it. I was right that there was no one up here with me...at least anymore.... I decided to search a couple of the apartments before heading out. Sadly most all of the were cleaned out of anything useful, neighbors must have had time to leave and pack up there stuff. When I got to the apartment at the end of the hall I was not prepared for what I found. When I kicked the door down I almost immediately vomited. The stench and sight of it was horrible. My neighbor had decided to take the easy way out and shot himself in the head. It took me forever to get the nerve to get near enough to him to pry the pistol out of his hand. I was so overwhelmed by the smell I didn't bother to search the rest of his apartment. This of course has left me with a pistol with no ammo.... I cant afford to make mistakes like this. I hope I can find some ammo somewhere but at least for now I can appear as if I have weapon so that is worth something. I have the cloths on my back, this stupid unloaded pistol and the real fear I wont make it out of here. Time to start moving. God I hope she made it out alive...

After searching my floor, I stumbled upon a pistol. Unfortunately, it’s not loaded but having a weapon is better than not having one. Time is almost up and I must make my way outside. Reaching the ground level and seeing the sun setting much faster than anticipated makes me fear that I won’t make it out of town in time. Then a thought occurs to me, what if Kai is still alive? If she is and she’s in trouble, should I save her? I mean, she’s the one who left. I begged her not to go but she wouldn’t listen. I can’t think about it too much since I have to focus on getting out of this place and staying alive.
I started heading towards the edge of town. After a while of walking, I come across a car on the side of the road. It is a newer car, I’m not sure what kind, nor do I care. Something doesn’t sit right with me about it. Then an image explodes into my mind. The image of me trying to search that car, its alarm going off and the next thing I know I’m surrounded by cannibals and criminals. The dark times are almost here and I can’t risk that. I won’t stop at the car. I walk as far to the other side of the road as possible.
Further down, on the other side of the road, is another vehicle. This one is much older and is a big white truck. It is off in the bushes that line the street. It’s covered in dents, scrapes, and the tires appear to be nearly flat. It’s very unlikely that it runs. This truck is much less likely to have an alarm and looks like a possible stop to search for more supplies. This is something that I am very uncomfortable with doing, since my gut says to just leave both vehicles and just get out of town, but I can’t afford to pass up the opportunity to get some supplies. Even though it’s nice to have a gun, it’s kind of useless without any ammo. The light is diminishing and still I can’t stop thinking about Kai, what if she didn’t die out here? What if she’s just been wandering through this wasteland, lost and broken? Then another thought, what if she did die out here? And how long before I follow the same path? No one knows the answer to that question, but eventually we will all know. Whether we want to or not.

Moving on without checking either car would be the safest bet, but would definitely be detrimental later on. The 'beat up' truck might just have some pistol ammunition, as no one would bother checking something that looks this bad.

Ratticus decides to investigate the beat up old white truck in the hope of finding some ammunition to go with the recently acquired pistol. He will be keeping an eye out for anything else that might be of value in the truck also, but moving on quickly to try and avoid unnecessary danger

I have a Magnesium Firestarter, and I choose option 1 because the car (option 2) poorly lit. A loaded gun I have not. So if someone is, I will not be able to scare them. In the truck can be a car Jack, Rope or other suitable heavy tools. I can also remove tires, to light them if necessary (if the engine will not start). Besides the ride in the truck or car through the dark city is not safe. Yes, and risk after the finds in the truck, what then to get into trap in the car makes no sense.

With my pistol in hand, empty as it may be, i still feel a slight sense of courage. Not willing to look in the car I cant really see, I will attempt to quickly peer inside the beat up truck. I am also more visible here but hopefully I am quick enough to survive to live another round.

I figure that a beat up truck that has lasted this long will last a bit longer. Not as flashy as a new car, but more ready to go off-road (if it still works). Even if it doesn't work, there may be some outdoor equipment stashed in the glovebox or in the cab.
I didn't choose Option 2 because a sports car will only be helpful on main roads. In the condition the city is in now, that won't be helpful for much longer.
I didn't choose Option 3 because time is of the essence and with night coming quickly it is only worth checking one vehicle.

Option Two---I Have an Unloaded Pistol
I can't believe we made it out of the building unscathed. Though it was obvious the lower floors had been looted long ago, when this apocalypse first began, there was no one else in the building....at least anyone who made themselves visible. There are still plenty of shadow areas in there for other survivors or gang members to hide.
There wasn't much on our floor, but we at least found a pistol. It's unloaded, and we didn't locate any bullets for it, but it can be used to intimidate an enemy if necessary, or to pistol-whip someone. It's useful, and that's what matters. Maybe we'll find bullets for it later.
I've been elected to carry it, since I was the one who found it.
There are a few people on the street, but they are mostly keeping to themselves, heads down, scurrying along, hoping to not be noticed. It's not quite dark yet, so the gangs haven't come out in full force. They're like vampires, feeding in the night and thriving on its darkness. If we can make it to the edge of town before the sun fully sets, we may have a real chance at escape, and finding a new, safe place to live. Maybe, if we're very lucky, we'll ALL make it to freedom.
We haven't been on the street too long, huddling together in a large group that I'm sure makes us look like our own gang (and thus, intimidating to others), when we come across a beat up pickup truck on one side of the road, and a nicer looking, newer car on the other side. There don't appear to be any other people nearby, but you never know. It's a tough choice, because there could be valuable supplies in those vehicles. There could also be sleeping gang members in them, or small, armed family groups who will shoot first and ask questions later.
The short-term safest option is to just keep going, but that won't help us long-term. We need supplies, and it's crucial that we search any place that looks promising....and deserted. It's a risk, but we can't pass up the opportunity to search the cars.
One half of our group goes to search the truck. I argued against it, because the truck is pretty far in the bushes, which means it is more likely to be a trap. There could be anyone hiding in those bushes, using the truck and the promise of possible supplies as a lure. But, we really need to search both vehicles, and a large enough portion of our numbers are willing to take a chance on the truck. Even dividing our numbers in half, there are still dozens of us. I think, and hope, that if there are gang members or other bad guys hiding in the bushes that our people can overpower them with the strength of those numbers.
I volunteer to take the rest of our group to search the nicer car. Honestly, the truck is probably more likely to have useful supplies in it, but again, it's too risky to search. This newer, nicer car may not have as much, but it's also farther away from the bushes, and so less likely to have others hiding in its vicinity. We can also do a quick search underneath the car as we approach it, and look in the windows before opening it, to make sure there are no evildoers waiting to ambush us.
And, really, at this point, any supplies we find will be useful. Even if the newer car doesn't have much to offer, we can probably still use it. It might even be in driving condition, which will help us get the most vulnerable of our group out of town more quickly. If it drives, it will also be useful in making trips to and from the woods for supplies in the country.
I'm armed with my pistol, empty though it may be. If there is anyone near or in the car, or if anyone approaches us while we're searching it, I'm ready to take them on and protect my people.
Time to discover what this car has to offer.

I have been stuck in this place for too long. I think it’s been about 4 weeks now. Everyone else has left except for one other family in 605 as far as I can tell. The Muellers, my neighbors to the right were gone as soon as the power went out, Misses Rodriguez left a couple days later, even the cute girl down the hall, Janine I think her name was. She must love the movie “The Lost Boys” because when she finally left she looked like one of the Frog brothers. Personally I think she should have watched “The Purge” because I haven’t seen any Vampires, but I’ve seen some crazy things from my window. You would think when the world went to crap, that we would ban together, but it has been the complete opposite.

Everyone used to make fun of my poor mans diet of Ramen noodles, Chef Boyardee, and Coke Zero. It has worked out pretty good so far I have yet to go to sleep hungry or thirsty. The best part is I haven’t had to leave my Apartment. In fact my only complaint would be the bathroom situation. Luckily I have been able to fill the toilet tank with soda so it flushes, but I have a real bad feeling that’s not going to last much longer.

Today I thought I would check on the last family on my floor. I was about to knock on their door when I heard crying. I put my ear to the door. I could hear a mans voice and what I assume is his wife and kids crying. Then he says “I love you and I’m sorry.” I again went to knock on their door, a loud BANG, BANG, BANG, a small pause then one last BANG! A thud and then silence. I ran back to my room and cried till I had nothing left…..WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!?!?!

I haven’t slept much lately….what’s the point. Every time I try to close my eyes, all I can hear is screaming and gun shots. It seems to be louder at night and brighter than the day time from the various fires burning. Don’t even get me started on the bathroom situation. Ugh the smell… The toilet no longer flushes, so I’ve had to start bagging it….So gross. On a positive note I’ve had to start rationing my food so I’m going to the bathroom less. YAY fml

Well, I’m down to the last can of mini Raviolis. So I guess I am going to have to leave. Man, the smell has become unbearable. I have to get out of here, out of this town. Those are words I never thought I would say. The city seems so dangerous, and from what I can see from my window it looks like a scene from “Children of Men”, or “Book of Eli”. Not my idea of a good time. Tomorrow night seems like the best option so I can try to avoid any bad people.

This is it, my heart is pounding. Last night I went over every post-apocalyptic video game and movie I could remember. To try and come up with a plan. Man, I hope there are no zombies out there. If there are any, I hope they are like the original “Dawn of the Dead” and not like the ones in “28 days later” I’m not in the best of shape I don’t want to have to out run them. So what I did learn from these movies and games? I need supplies, so I’ll look around up here, then get the heck out of this place.
I searched every ones apartment except for 605. I looked in every drawer and every closet, but unfortunately there wasn’t anything useful. I then slowly made my way over to apartment 605. I really did not want to go in there, but I knew there was a gun in there. I kicked in the door and what I saw was haunting. It was worse then I imagined it would be. After the man shot himself he fell forward on to the gun. His body was ridged and heavy making moving him very hard, especially trying to avoid the other bodies. I managed to roll him enough to grab the gun. The gun was empty and so was the rest of the apartment. The sun was setting fast so instead of searching the entire complex, I made my way to the streets. Outside felt very foreign, nothing was the same as I remember it just a couple of weeks ago. I make it a few blocks down the road. There were a couple of vehicles on the side of the road. I’m in need of a vehicle and supplies. Man, I really wanted to look in them, but even though I have a gun it’s hard to feel protected when its not loaded. So I kept my head down and continued on my way.

Who needs ammo? This is a freaking Hi-Point. They make fantastic weapons for bludgeoning enemies and edible animals to death. And boomerangs. You can also use them like boomerangs.
Maybe one of these games, we could get something from Springfield Armories? Or at least a Glock?
I feel like this option is a trap. But it's a trap I just can't resist. I have a gun, and I chose to search both vehicles! If someone attacks me, I'll club 'em to death with my might Hi-Point! (And it'll still be able to fire when I finally get ammo. Because it's a Hi-Point.)

This just may be the right time for taking risks: after sunset, shrouded in shadows, but before nightfall, when the violence erupts... So I decide to just go for it and inspect BOTH vehicles. Just make it fast! I guess I should start with the truck, though at this point it won't make a difference.

Having survived the dark descent down the building and out the door, DeanLogic lives on another day in the STEEM-pocalypse Meat Grinder. The Dungeon Master in his head has provided options, while fair, seem to be limited. That old Suburban looks like it could be hot wired, but, since this was an EMP attack, who knows if it will actually turn over. Since, descend into marauder status and kill all the other players is not an option, DeanLogic ponders his options. With hesitation and a bit of bravado, DeanLogic selects the highest risk for the highest possible reward option.
