Exploring Naoshima - A Visit to the Lee Ufan Museum
Unfortunately I was painfully locked out here on Steemit yesterday so I couldn't interact with anyone. Withdrawal symptoms proceeded haha Am I the only one getting bandwidth issues at the moment? Anyone else? Because I'm new here? 😌
Anyway, after my visit to the Benesse Museum on Naoshima I decided to trundle over to the Lee Ufan Museum, one of the newer additions to the island. It's distinct thanks to the wide open spaces in the courtyard that then guide you in to a narrow walkway, first going outward and then inward towards the museum entrance.
The museum itself highlights the work of Korean contemporary artist Lee Ufan, inside features stone installations and paintings from earlier on in his career. Designed by Tadao Ando, hence the use wide expanses of concrete, I was in awe of the clean cut surroundings and the cleanliness of the concrete. It was quite a unique experience and feels other worldly, a feeling that Tadao Ando’s architecture always gives off.
I really enjoyed walking around and capturing the shadows near the entrance and in the open courtyard, thus I wanted to bring forward a few of the images today. More coming soon from my trips in Japan.

I been having that bandwidth issue too.
Nice photos, as always.
What's that long self standing structure? Is it supposed to symbolise something?
Oh I see. Not just me then. Maybe it's because the site is getting more popular everyday. Thanks for the kind words. Yeah there was little to no information. The title of the sculpture is "Relatum – Point, Line, Plane" and seemed to be a massive totem pole marking the site in a contemporary way. I think there is meaning, but to be honest the information on Naoshima is slightly lacking (especially for English speakers). Maybe it adds to the mystery? lol
Great shots. Once again thanks a lot for sharing them. I have only seen photos, but Tadao Ando's work is definitely impressive. I am starting to think I need to plan a trip to Naoshima as well.
Yeah, it's a great place to explore. A little expensive and out of the way, you also need good weather. I reccomend it though as it's a one of a kind experience being on such an island. I guess there's nowhere else like it in the world. Thanks for commenting :)
nice... there is no love sincere than the love of travling :)
Thanks @aaahmed. Travelling is great :)
