Exploring Kyoto - Inside Nakamuraken Sweet Shop

in #photography7 years ago

A few images that I took inside a small sweet shop near Katsura Imperial Villa named Nakamuraken. I was taken here by a Japanese friend and it didn’t disappoint. I didn’t know much about this location but after the visit I was able to go online and research a little about this quaint sweet shop.

Mugitemochi is one of the most famous sweets that they make, a white mochi that is wrapped over azuki red bean paste and topped with a soybean powder. We also tried Kakigōri, translated to shaved ice in English, which was matcha flavoured with red bean paste and more mochi. Overall a fantastic experience and I would certainly visit again. I recommend you visit too if you get the chance, it truly is a "Japanese" experience. More soon! :)

Is this place rather accessible by train?

No problem. First head to Katsura Station on the Hankyu Line and then walk about 10- 15 minutes from there. Hope that helps. :)

Yum, sounds great! Those photos look tasty too.
