Why the world should know ANAS

Who is Anas and why should you care?

Ghana as a country and the whole of Africa has been faced with the menace of corruption for decades. Each new government promises to deal with corruption when they come into power, yet the consequent government is often worse than the previous government. Amidst all this chaos and greed arises a saviour, his name, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.

The most asked and controversial question here in Ghana is, Who is Anas? Technically, Anas is a human being just like any of us, but in my opinion, Anas is a bit more. Anas is an investigative journalist. Anas is in a way, the answer to Ghana's call to fight corruption.

Anas exists, so what?

Ghana has felt the effect of the woks and investigation of Anas and its aftermath. Anas has over the years exposed different forms of corruption going on in various sectors. Anas has brought to light the maltreatment and extortion of children by the same people who have promised to protect them. He revealed to the world how the orphanage system has failed.

No one knows where Anas is as I write this. Maybe he is sipping some fruit juice enjoying the weather or perhaps, he is working on another investigative piece that would once again shake the nation to it's core. I know someone somewhere is working diligently and playing by the rules because who knows, Anas could be watching. With this mindset, Ghana's fight against corruption, bribery and such vices just got easier.

The world should care because the work of Anas rubs in our face how as humans, we have failed. Let's be brutally honest here. It's not like we didn't have our suspicions regarding how football is played here in ghana. Some of us had probably even suspected how things run in our mental hospitals. We just didn't care enough, no one said anything. No tried to set things right. It took Anas for us to demand for heads to roll. Anas pricks our conscience. The world should care because Anas challenges those responsible. The Ministry of Health would have continued unconcerned with mental health in Ghana until Anas doused them with the proverbial "bucket of cold water".

Anas is concerned with the plight of the defenseless, especially women and children. Simply put, Anas cares. Anas makes it a concern to speak up for the cheated, exploited and defenseless in society. His service to humanity extends beyond the borders of Ghana. He teamed up with another journalist from Nigeria(Ms Rose) to look into baby trafficking, child stealing and illegal abortions. The world should care because what Anas deals with is real. He completes the work of the law and authorities. He ads up to male it complete.

To end, I would say Anas is a step in the right suggestion. I would say we should support him and rally behind him because with Anas, the fight against corruption and human rights abuse just got easier.
