Erosion Explosion on the Yorkshire Coast

After spending a few days at the Yorkshire coast. I was shocked to see the amount of erosion along the cost.
Here at Bridlington all the golden sand has gone. I've never seen it like this before in 40 years of coming here. I was speaking to a local guy and he said that a storm a few weeks ago has sucked millions of tons of sand from the beach. If you look at the photo along the wall you can see where the sand used to be by the yellow mark about 8 feet high.

Further up the coast at Scarboro the see has ripped away almost 2 feet of sand from the beach. Further along where the kids play area is you can see the two foot drop in the sand.

Also here between Cayton Bay and Filey where the coast is made of soil. The land is been eroded here at a fast rate. This is where houses on the cliff top fall onto the beach over time.
You can see in this picture that they are trying to protect the houses above from falling by use of these huge sacks. By filling them with a concrete mix and stacking them against the bank.

Here the sacks are laid out ready to stack. These sacks must be ten feet long.

Finally they are fronted by these large concrete blocks.
I guess we'll see over time what will happen. Although i think we all know.. Mother nature does what mother nature wants regardless of human intervention.
