Future direction of this series: in future posts we will study paramagnetism, deriving expressions for the magnetisation for J = 1/2, and the general case, before moving on to study ferromagnetism and the exchange interaction. After developing our knowledge of the different types of magnetism we will consider more subtle things such as domain walls and phase transitions.
