Project Details

Node.js is an open-source, cross-platform JavaScript run-time environment that executes JavaScript code outside of a browser.

Node.js came into existence when the original developers of JavaScript extended it from something you could only run in the browser to something you could run on your machine as a standalone application.

In simple words, it's an open source execution environment for developing web applications, which is event-based, it uses the V8 engine to provide an execution environment that compiles and executes JavaScript at a higher speed. It is possible to run Node.js without any restriction on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.

It should be noted that it is NOT a server language, this means that it executes code, so it could be understood as an interpreter.

Contribution Specifications

Node.js is currently being translated into 33 languages. I´m contributing to translate it into the Spanish language. So far, we have managed to translate 42% of the project.

Translation Overview

I continue with the ChangeLog_V7.md folder

In my previous contributions, I explained what a change log is about. A Changelog is a record of all the notable changes made to a project, it usually includes change records such as new features or bug fixes. It includes all the changes historically, although it is intended that a Changelog does not include all the changes, but rather it contains a list of notable changes ordered chronologically for each version of a project.

During this contribution, I finished translating the commits belonging to the version 7.9.0 and I started with the versions 7.8.0 and 7.7.4

Here's an example of a translated commit belonging to version 7.9.0:

English:

1ee38eb874 - (SEMVER-MINOR) util: add %i and %f formatting specifiers (Roman Reiss) #10308

Spanish:

1ee38eb874 - (SEMVER-MINOR) util: añadir los especificadores de formato %i y %f (Roman Reiss) #10308

This change brings formatting specifiers available in util.format and consequently, console.* closer to what is supported in all major browsers.

An example of a translated commit belonging to version 7.8.0:

English:

4b1b6b85a9 - timers: fix not to close reused timer handle (Shigeki Ohtsu) #11646

Spanish:

4b1b6b85a9 - timers: corregir para no cerrar el handle del temporizador reutilizado (Shigeki Ohtsu) #11646

The timer handle is reused when it is unrefed in order to avoid new callback in beforeExit. If it is unrefed within a setInterval callback, the reused timer handle is closed so that setInterval no longer keep working. This fix doesn't close the handle in case of setInterval.

And another belonging to version 7.7.4:

English:

80949f3d88 - build: add cpp linting to windows build (liusi) #11856

Spanish:

80949f3d88 - build: añadir linting de cpp a compilación de windows (liusi) #11856

This commit adds cpp linting to Windows build script. After this change, running command vcbuild lint will run both cpp linting and javascript linting on a Windows machine.

Hi @cremisi,

Thank you for submitting your contribution!

  • This is a very interesting project that contains many code values and terms related to computer science. Its difficulty relies on the fact that we must pay a lot of attention to the code in order to deliver the most accurate translation possible.

  • Your presentation post is well written and formatted, it includes all the basic information related to the project, as well as useful examples that provide insight of your work as a translator. Just remember that you can always add more details that explain the purpose of the text you translate each time.

  • You did a very good job with your translation. The vocabulary you used is correct and you were also careful with code values that should not be translated.

Keep up the good work :)
