What follows is Vic Buaquen introducing himself to the Steemit community:
A disturbed family life eventually affecting also my military career led me to early retirement when it became possible to do so after 20 years of service. Perhaps a combat experience in the service where I found that I don't have the stomach to pull the trigger also made it easier for me to leave the service. It was an early retirement at age 45. Today I am 74.
My leaving the service was an uncertain move into an uncertain future. I did not have any specific plan to follow for the years to come except that I felt that things will be fine once I can somehow reconcile with the spiritual aspect of my being. I did not know how that will happen or come about. I always did have a continuing curiosity and interest in spiritual matters. So I have been reaching out to learn about different religions and spiritual practices. And I was particularly fascinated by meditation as practiced by different schools and persuasions. I have even lingered long enough with a meditation group where my peers have been acknowledged to have reached a level of enlightenment by our teacher. I was not among those fortunate ones. Even so, I feel my life has been changed by the times spent in the stillness of meditation.
Today, I am also an avid observer and passive participant of a particular “chanelling” as an adjunct to spiritual practice. And I can say that such a process and involvement has made me a more loving and caring human. I am a follower of the Christ and I consider every other human my brother/sister regardless of creed or color.
I may be asked what then are all those 74 years about? I am most curious to know the answer myself. I have no ready answer but for me to venture one, I could respond with an inkling that I got. Life and reality is not a journey with a destination but a journey of ever becoming and continuous evolution on unto eternity and into grander dimensions, it seems.
At this point I wish to express an inkling I got on Steemit, as well. Steemit can very well serve as a window by which we could take a glimpse at the collective heart and mind of mankind, a picture never seen before.
