The clock moves slowly toward 02:00 AM. My eyes don't feel sleepy. I'm still curious about the history of this area, especially about Marina Bay. I keep searching on the internet. Until, I was fixated on an article entitled, "Japan Successly Dispelling Allied at Marina Island."

The Pacific war extends to Marina Island. The Japan troops continue to attack the NATO military base. Japanese planes bombarding allied bases, and burning enemy bunker bases. Dutch military officer, Lt. Col. JJ van Basten who occupies Marina Island was reportedly killed in the attack. Thousand of allied forces also die in the war. Japanese troops are like a demon-possessed. They broke the Dutch blockade with kamikaze action.

I got interested in this little island. Apparently, this area was once the defense of the leading Dutch troops in the Pacific. In addition, the island has also been a special location for the Dutch military officer housing. Japanese spies, who received help from the natives, know the coordinates of this island. As a result, the island became an easy target after the Dutch warships were dispatched to Batavia.

The Japanese imperial forces succeeded in forcing the Dutch marines into the prime mainland. Nearly 60 percent of Dutch military personnel reportedly killed, and the rest fled. The Dutch flag, Prinsenvlag, was shredded in bullets. The pillars were broken. The Japanese troops then bore Hinomaru, a symbol of the success of the war.

A faint sound came from the door. I put in down the smartphone and rushed out of the bedroom, checking around. Nothing wrongs. "Maybe a cat." I murmured.

I go back to the bedroom. Continue reading articles about the war on Marina island.

After the Japanese victory, the home of a Dutch military officer who was not damaged by war, was made an emergency office of Dai Nippon troops. One of them, the house near the coral hills, is adjacent to the Malacca Strait. The house is a permanent, European-style building. The house has several rooms, such as living room, kitchen and two bedrooms. This is the home of Lt. Col. JJ van Basten, a Dutch military officer in charge of overseeing the Strait of Malacca.

"Hmmm ...." I starting to know the background of this house, but have not answered the problem that I am facing. I re-opened the search engine. Continue page by page at search engine.

"Kreeeeekk ..." The sound of the door come back. This time coupled with the sound of plates and spoons. Like a someone is eating in the kitchen. This sound surprised me.

I jumped around slowly, so my footsteps were not heard. Opening the door, then grabbing the broom handle in front of the bedroom. I went to the kitchen. Suddenly, my heart pounded. Sweat slowly down from the forehead and the tip of the hair. "Damn, why I'm scared like this?"

"Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. By saying the most loving name of Allah, the most merciful." I prayed, opening the kitchen door, ready to attack. However, the kitchen space is empty. No people or animals.

"Then, what a noise was that?"

I checking the kitchen windows, dish rack, sink and under the dining table. Nothing wrong. Then I rushed to the living room. Turn on the light. Nil. Everything is fine.

My curiosity is getting bigger. I then stepped into the bedroom through the kitchen room. However, suddenly the room was humid. Like there's something in this room. "But what?" I say to myself. [](to be continued...)

This story is just fiction. The similarity of names, places, institutions and stories is a mere coincidence. This is the first fiction I'm writing and immediately publish it in steemit. I hope the criticism and suggestions related to the storyline and editing of writing in this fiction, to be better in the next section. (Author: Boy Nashruddin/@boynashruddin)

You should try sticking to one tense while writing. In this story you're constantly jumping between present and past which has a negative effect on an otherwise good story.

Thank you for your feedback, @suesa. I will try to follow your advice.
