Guest house: The Black Shadow - Part 3
The gecko's voice whimpered behind the corner cabinet of the bedroom. The reptile voice continued to sound, until last were greeted by the singing of owls at the up of the mahogany tree. I'm awake. The clock shows at 12.00 AM. I looking at my children's and my wife. They are sounding. No anxiety like last night. (Read: Part 2)
I stepped out. I'm opening the door of the room carefully.
The atmosphere outside the room was so humid. I reach for the smartphone, the cigarette pack and the cigarette lighter, then rush to the porch.
The night wind caressed my face. Cold. "Kletek ..." I lit a cigarette. Smoke billowing from my mouth.
The street light at the inns gate, was blinking. The light went out. For a moment, the road to the inn was dark.
I sucked in the smoke again, blowing it harder. Later, I took smartphone in the pocket and surfed the internet pages.
"The Marina Bay Guest house". I type the name in Google search engine. A few seconds later appeared a row of articles about this inn.
Many articles were written about the promotion of Marina Bay, the rest about the tourism sector of this small island. I scroll search engine. Open one by one the article. "Nothing unusual." My mind.
Then, I opened some news about The Marina Bay Guest House. I started the searching of the latest news. Apparently, this inn opened since the colonial period.
In the past, this building was using for the home of military officers of the colonial troops. When the colonial period ended, the house was taken over by a nobleman. He is an influential figure in the region. The this nobleman it has tens of hectares of land up to the mainland. However, he sold the land and the building to a entrepreneurs from the mainland. Not know why.
I then opened some other news related to this inn. I am looking for something, which has made me very curious about the history of the building. Some of my cigarettes are gone. Until finally, "Aaaa .... Aaaa ..."
My kids are hysterical again. I rushed in. Washing my face in the bathroom and go to the bed room. But before I reached for the bed room door, a shadow came out. I am surprised. Reflexively kicked on the kitchen door. The children fell silent.
I opened the door. Their faces are pale. My wife's face looked too confused. He immediately gave milk to our youngest daughter. While the eldest sobbed. I reached for a bottle of milk, put milk powder and added warm water. The youngest grabbing me. "Dad ... Scared..."
I took a deep breath. There's something in this house. I'm sure after the black shadow almost clashed with me. I reopened the smartphone while lying on the oldest side. My relatives address scroll one by one. "This is it!"
"Tomorrow morning, please come on at here. Pick my family up the first route the ferry." My send the message via WhatsApp messenger app.
I turned off my smartphone. Stroked the my eldest. Then, I'm chanting shalawat to calm him down. Slowly, the eldest went back to sleep. So did the youngest. My wife looked at me with meaning. She didn't say a word. I trying to understand her feelings and whispered, "It's okay. Tomorrow you're picked up to go home. I'll still stay here. There's something. I need to do."[] (to be continued...)
