How to win friends and influence people (by Dale Carnegie) is a one of the best books about building good social interactions. If you want to win the hearts of your fellow Steemians, then you should read this book. If you are a leader and you wish to step up your social skills or a tiny minnow who would love to be have the whales following you then this book review is perfect for you.

Dale Carnegie started this chapter by listing out the essential needs of human beings. One of the most under fulfilled needs of man is the desire to be important. This desire is one of the reason why we do most of the things we do. It is this desire for a feeling of importance that makes us accumulate so much Steem Power so that we can exert influence in Steemit. This feeling of importance define us and when we figure where we get our feeling of importance, we can figure out what we are.

In this Chapter Dale Carnegie told the story of a lady who went insane in other to get a feeling of importance. She was greatly unappreciated and unloved and in order to escape from the harsh reality of her existence, she went insane. She found solace in insanity where she can be who she wants to be and have all the care and attention she couldn’t get in real life. If someone can go as far as insane to get a feeling of importance, then won’t it be fantastic to give it (that feeling of importance) to them on this side of sanity?

When you give people sincere and honest appreciation you make them feel important. You add to their self esteem and you make them want to do even more for you so that you can give them more appreciation and add to their self esteem and make them want to do more for you so that you can give them more appreciation and add to their self esteem and make them want to do more for you so that…. Okay this is an endless loop.

One of the greatest feelings in the world is to hear someone say thank you for something you did. When I started my Steemit journey I was surrounded by a lot of minnows and they didn't really know much about Steemit. Most of them were using mobile phones so I did a mobile phone tutorial series on Youtube to help them. Recently I was chatting with @ogochukwu and he requested that I do a mobile phone tutorial on a particular topic for some newbies. I felt so happy that those late night, tired eyes tutorials actually helped and @ogochukwu the famous Steemit dolphin noticed my work.

Two days ago @ewuoso celebrated 1000 members and he mentioned my name as of of the people that helped him when he was a tiny little minnow. My head was swollen with esteem and pride as I read that post I felt like sending him 100$ for that honorary mention.

If you want to get the best out of people, if you want to win friends and influence people then be hearty in your approbation and be lavish in your praise. When people do nice things to you, be quick to say thank you.

Go out of your way to appreciate the people that are important in your life. Appreciate those things that seem normal. Everyday things like having a homemade meal from your wife or your mother. I can't remember the last time I had a homemade meal from my mother. Appreciate your staff for coming early to work. Appreciate the taxi cab man for taking you to your destination safely. Life is too short, so say thank you and make the other person feel good. Let us create this endless loop of appreciation.
