Building a Fictional Empire: Using BOTS to Increase Steemit Readership
Successful writing doesn’t just require talented writers.
What we expect from talented writers (or anyone creative for that matter) is high quality content that engages the intended audience and achieves it's purpose. What prevents so many of us from seeing more of this is the muddy soup of everyone trying to get themselves seen or heard. You’ve got to sort the wheat from the chaff. Constantly.
It’s high quality marketing and publicity that actually allows an audience to come into contact with the work to begin with. Herein lies my own struggle.
As a writer who uses Steemit instead of other mediums such as print as a platform to engage with new readers, I am here by myself at my desk trying to do everything. I’ll admit, the hardest part about being a creative writer (think Adventures in Elowyn Glade) is forcing myself to sit down and write. When I’m down and writing, it’s a breeze. When I’m not, I think of a million reasons to justify why I have to spend time outside gardening or reading another new ICO whitepaper. So when I finally get down to work - that whole process of creating, proof reading and editing my work, when it finally comes to publishing it, there often isn't much in the tank left to give. It is this that has to change.
When I first joined Steemit in August 2017, I didn’t expect too much. A few cents here and there would be fine. I was really just hoping for more interaction with my readership, considering my website received virtually no traffic whatsoever and of course, no interaction. So when the articles and stories I had written on Steemit got some traction – about three of my articles made over fifty dollars which is still incredible, I was astounded. However, as it stands my follower number sits at a fairly meager 220-ish. I’m assuming there are a lot of people who follow but do not engage with my work as there are nowhere near that number of regular upvotes or comments. What I would have preferred, is a follower list of twenty dedicated readers who love my work and regularly engage. Well, alas, this won’t happen so..
After finding a tenacious crypto enthusiast named Vincent Briatore on YouTube and appreciating his passion to engage more with the system to make it work for him, I decided to follow suit.
He has created two videos (part 1 is here) and (part 2 is here) where he explains his idea to make the Steemit platform work for him and achieve $1000 a day. His method – BOTS. The theory is that once you’ve got significant upvotes from bots (which you pay for, and get a net positive return up to a certain price), the content gets more exposure, and subsequently more views, comments, followers and upvotes.
Is it my aim to make $1000 a day? Well, it’s not my first aim, but I certainly wouldn’t knock it back. My goal is to gain appreciation for my creative effort. Within the Steemit platform, appreciation is gleaned from followers, upvotes and comments left on articles. My first goal is to reach a thousand followers by the end of 2018 and average out $50 per post through the upvotes of people who actually get to finally see the tremendous effort that goes into each minute of my work.
Here’s the Steembot tracker link I’ll be using in order to pay bots to upvote my articles. I’ve included it probably more for my own reference than anything, as I’m sure I’ll close the tab and lose the link.. bookmark, right? Well, here it is anyway!
A Final Note..
I am still very much working on my fantasy saga “Adventures in Elowyn Glade”. For new readers that are interested in dungeons and dragons-style adventures with characters living in a world filled with scaled heroes and beastly adversaries, this series is for you. I’m still looking for artists to illustrate covers for me. So if you have some artistic flair, please get in touch.
‘Adventures’ is up to it’s 11th issue now. Who knew completing the first ten within six months was possible? At the 1 year anniversary of the Saga, I’ll be releasing all ten (if not more!) issues in a single Steemit version of a trade-paperback. One post to rule them all!
As always, take care and I look forward to creating some amazing content that so many more people can enjoy over the coming twelve months.
All the best,
Nick.

I am following you and a new commer here , I am on the vincentb too and I have been wondering abot the bot thing .... :) I have to look into more I think , but was heading for the old fashion way going slowly from the goldfish status to the minnow . At first when I got on I was really wondering why there was frantic activity about how to increase upvotes and follwers , it seemed to me as if is was a run to who could do more , and all the videos and tips on that got me surprised ! I have a feeling there are two kinds of people the ones ho are in content merite way and the ones mostly new comers who are frantic about getting read or just seen . I try to go on as much blogs as I can to read , but it is true that alot of great posts often go by without getting the attention they deserve !
I am now partiation two contests just see what comes out of it , I am trying various experiences , like a max commenting and replying too posting every day and after a month I will do my stats ! Would be nice go compare wi5 a bog user ?

Thanks! I too, am trying to get my work out there, for critique more than anything else. Steemit represents a unique opportunity for artists to share and critique each others work, but it has to be found first! I am so glad I found this post!
I"m glad it has been of use to you!
Cheers.
