Celtica located the apartment building with no problem. She knew the city well, she should do, she’d lived here since before it was even a town stead.

She stood at the bottom of the building and looked up. It would be an easy climb. The difficulty would be in finding a place to start climbing where she wouldn’t be noticed for a while - if at all.

Strolling around the perimeter, she found a back alley but it was busy with employees from the restaurant next door using it for cigarette breaks and the like. She couldn’t see the attraction herself, human lungs were so delicate, it didn’t seem clever to pump poison into them.

Celtica tried a different tack. She leaped up the wall of the restaurant while there was a lull in the traffic and then she figured that she wouldn’t be noticed from below. It gave the perfect cover, the employees were busy chatting and passers by didn’t look down alleys.

She leaped from the restaurant roof up as far as she could reach on the opposite building and then she began a steady climb.

The chance she had taken proved fortunate, she climbed around to the front where the hand-holds were easier to find because of the decorative brickwork.

Then she made her way up the building with the agility of… well, of a dragon.

There were convenient balconies toward the top of the building and on one lower than the one she wanted, she stopped to check out the locking system for the apartments. There really was nothing to the locks. The sliding doors were not very secure and if an adventurous cat burglar had a go, he could be in and out in a matter of minutes. If he were only to target the apartments for jewellery, it could prove very lucrative indeed and she had just shown that no one in the city took any notice of people climbing up the outside of tall buildings. If it was none of their business, they didn’t notice it or if they did, they kept their mouth shut.

At the apartment she wanted, she perched on the balcony and looked at the lock to the sliding door. It was the same as the previous one and she smiled. Lazy people.

She used her fingernail to not so much pick the lock as to completely destroy it.

Then the door was slid open quietly and slowly so that she could send her senses in to locate the guard vampires. It was unfortunate that she couldn’t ascertain just how old they were because there were four of them at least.

She was sure that they had been given at least a warning about her tough hide by now so she’d not be able to trick them into breaking their teeth on it, but at least she didn’t have to worry about their teeth, one of their better weapons. She also didn’t have to worry about their glamouring abilities either, she wasn’t susceptible to their hypnosis.

Perhaps the weight of numbers would be difficult to overcome, but she didn’t think so. Fire? No, vampires hated fire as much as the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz, so she didn’t think that even the warlock would be permitted to use fire, not that it would be any threat to her, not even wizard’s fire could harm a dragon.

While she was contemplating, she was sensing the different smells in the apartment. There was a clear scent of fresh potion making. This warlock wasn’t beglamoured, he was allowed to use his full warlocking skills for whatever it was he was employed for. This guy was important.

‘Ooh, there’s another vampire’ she thought to herself as she located it hidden behind the main wall running up through the building.

They were very still and she wondered why. Perhaps they were in hibernation, or just not expecting her just yet.

Knowing that they absolutely hated fire, she sent a blast of her blue flames out towards one vampire that was standing closest to her. As his tinder-dry body was engulfed, she grabbed his arm, pushed open the sliding door and jerked him outside, onto the balcony and then he toppled over the barriers, which were nowhere near high enough for safety’s sake, and he was sent hurtling down to the street below.

It was lucky for everyone on the ground that the vampire burned up before he hit the ground and his ashes were scattered to the winds.

That was it though, they knew she was there and the battle was on in earnest.

Sort:

Kind of cool how her fire is blue.

The inner core of the candle flame is light blue, with a temperature of around 1800 K (1500 °C). That is the hottest part of the flame.

A quick google search, I could not remember for sure that blue was the hottest flame color. So she is not only pretty cool, she is definitely hot.

Haha! Thank you for doing the research!

Great work..love the way you write.. expecting more scary stories.. @michelle.gent

Thank you, I appreciate your reply.

Bountiful post will dony

Goddamn celtica radiates power and dominance and I cannot get enough! Great work @michelle.gent , I absolutely adore this series in particular!

Thank you!

I happen to like her too ;)

I have faith that Celtica can manage 4 vamps and a warlock. But I'll still be hanging out to see how!

Yeah... it'll be a breeze! ;)

The story is no more scary but rather getting interesting. It's as if I am in a movie theater watching a film. You really key me in @michelle.gent

Miss Diamond can handle them. She is more powerful than they can ever be.

Thank you. I'm glad you're enjoying it.
