Keyboard Warriors - Original Works Writing ConteststeemCreated with Sketch.

in #writing7 years ago

Thanks @originalworks for putting on the contest. I feel like this evolved more into a poem then a story, but would love to know your thoughts.

Two keyboard warriors fighting valiantly online for the causes they support for time after time. Facts are launched like bullets from a gun, and sometimes a hint of hate and racism is thrown in like a pinch of salt and pepper. It’s like the Wild West whenever these two invisible warriors meet online it’s a hell of a time

Every stat that is thrown and every article that is given makes the one feel the victor the other defeated, and every blow that is taken and every scar that is given further increases the divide of that of the two sides. With anger and malice and sarcasm and spite who truly wins as the battle begins.

The hours go on and the victors less clear the two realize what’s really to fear? The pride they fought for the side that they chose was it really worth this to feel as hollow. Suddenly all is quiet and the smoke begins to clear, the keyboards clear off and there is peace in the air.

These warriors have realized these wars that they fight, are one in the same, they’re fighting is nothing more than a civil war game. Though two sides they may sit one are one in the same, they may be on two teams, but playing the same game.

Their views may still differ, but much as been gained. They have respect for each other and can discuss while staying sane. The battles have gone and nothing is fought to be won, but each leaves winner with much growing at dinner. You see their differing views are what makes them grow stronger, older, and wiser.

You did a great job depicting the happenings all over the internet, though I would say your two subjects are much more ideal than the common interactions of these keyboards warriors. It was a good write, and I enjoyed the figurative language.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it

great writing. keyborad worriers are even fiercer in Korea as I think due to the strict social hierarchy and the very unique age culture. Debating, arguing or disagreeing could be regarded as a rude and uneducated behaviour unless you understand the opposite person very well so people just refrain doing it. What that causes? People easily go into rage or bully others on the internet because they can never do that without risking being seriously blamed in their real life. I am living in the UK and I feel the online communities are less crazy than that of Korea. People does not take disagreement personally but rather welcome it. What a big world. Even the internet couldn't unify the people in the world.

Anyway, thanks, I followed you.
